I havnt read the article but he made it pretty clear on the radio interview aftr the Barnsley game .....but we are only three games into the season!! Lol

I've seen/heard his post Barnsley interview on iplayer and he gave the typical non-committal loanee line of "maybe, it's nice here, have to see at the end of the season."

In practice he will want a 2 year deal at that age not 1 and say he went to 25k a week bottom limit (obviously bit higher if we were in Prem but 25k here or 30k many other places he may be settled). All the club would do is give him 15k a week and lump 2 years worth of the other 10k together into a 1mil signing on fee instead of a transfer fee.

Won't happen but well...... never know. Similar thing when Zamora's contract expires lol

There is a chance that he just maybe wants to settle down somewhere and enjoy his football. Not every football is driven by money and he must already be a multi millionaire. There is every chance he would stay.

Agree the money bit .. the incremental between what we could offer and what he could get elsewhere isn't going to be life changing for him.

It wont because he will never get offered £90k a week ages when this contract expires so in effect the 90k can be ignored.

Oh I don't know, could get anything between £60k and £90k. Based on some of the Prem teams I bet Arsenal and Liverpool would offer nearer £90k, whilst The Villa's, Newcastle's, QPR's and West ham's could probably hit £60 - £75k.

I think a 2 year deal would be quite possible.

Bridge not driven by money? LMFAO

He decided to sit in the Chelsea reserves for a few years when Cole came and then ends up at Man City. Wake up and smell the coffee if he joins Brighton permanently he will be the highest paid player, which at 32 is hilarious.

Fair enough the optimism that he may have 'earned his money' but if he stays this class a club with more cash will come for him... then again how much is Vicente on? Can we afford it again? Is he an example of this kind of equation? Will the philosophy, Gus, the club etc be draw enough to do this?

I ask all these questions because how many people would really take such an enormous pay cut? I know it is a different circumstance to us working types, with millions in the bank... but perhaps the human desire to accrue as much as possible remains intact despite the number of naughts involved is only my thought...

We can all sit here and say 'well if it were me...' BUT we a) love the club and b) have our understanding of what it is like to be that wealthy couched in fantasy. A fantasy where we can be magnanimous to the part of ourselves that theoretically 'loves being back enjoying his football...'

hmm

Great post and i agree with most of it. I think the only other thing that could sway him is he is a southerner and so is Frankie (well...London) so living near family and friends for both of them could be that last thing they need to sign a longer deal. Family's can be a big thing for people especially if they have lived away for long periods. Just saying...

I'd imagine his misses lives in London due to her work commitments so him living in Brighton is a lot better than him living in Sunderland, Leeds, Huddersfield, Manchester etc. Heard her on the radio and she said when he was on loan at Sunderland it was really hard for them as they're really happy and want to be closer to each other as their relationship is going well.

I'd be delighted if bridge stays fit all season. I'd be over the moon if he stays fit and stays on another season or 2! He doesn't need the big money contracts anymore - he's had that for a good 8 years or so at Chelsea and city, but the question will be will he want it? Depends if another south club offer more maybe and if their offering prem football or not.

Like probably all here I've no idea. Can only speculate but if I had the house, the cars, the trimmings and several million stuffed away in investments which guaranteed my future (as most half sensible Prem players would) then I can't see that my decisions for the next 2 years of my life would be driven by the difference between £20K and £40K a week, or whatever the numbers are. But then we're all different and a lot will likely depend on how well Bridge has got himself set up for the future

If Southampton stay up, I could see him returning there, home town and all that.
Indeed.

1) He'll want to earn more than we can afford, and so he should, he's miles better than us.
2) He'll want to be playing in the premiership on the big stage.

In Bridge, Bruno and Vicente we've got some great quality at bargain prices. If we stick to our budget I can easily see our team getting worse next year.

It's a completely pointless discussion unless we get promoted, but if we do then I'm sure we'll be in pole position for his signature. That said, if any other southern or London Premiership team are looking at him, then lets not pretend we won't be involved in a bidding war for obscene money, albeit a lot less than £95k a week.
