They are refusing on the grounds that the War Memorial is a listed building and it is highly unlikely they would get permission to carve the name.
I will be bombarding the council with emails and I would urge you to do the same.
I used to work with Steve Prior's brother (not the one mentioned in the Argus story) and find the attitude of the Council incredible.
I was no supporter of Thatcher's adventure in the South Atlantic, but am happy to respect the memory of those who fought.
My brother was serving in the Royal Navy at the time and I know that our family was very relieved when he got posted to Scotland in 1982, rather than being sent to the Falklands.
