Any fans of books on the Falklands should read 'Vulcan 607' by Rowland White. If you know your history of that time, it should be easy enough to work it what the main subject of it is.

Fantastic book IMO.

Dr Spock?

Seriously, the RAF played a very understated part in the campaign, they tend to get a reputation for flying in, doing a job, then being home in time for tea. Because they can be so "long range" from the action, they get disparaged for their efforts - Junior will know about this sort of thing. V607 is an incredible story, and just shows what can be done when you have your back against the wall.

Sharky Ward's Harrier books are good reading as well.

Argentina have NEVER owned the Falklands. They didn't even know what the climate was and sent their troops in wearing cotton fatigues.

Apparently a fair percentage of their troops believed they were on exercise in Tierra del Fuego, they were really shocked when the Paras came over the hill and started blasting them to eternity...another story that may not be true is that the officers told their men that the Gurkhas would slit their throats with their Kukri knives if they got hold of them, probably true, hence they surrendered on sight when the Nepalese warriors appeared on the scene.

i know that when they surrendered, our unit went to west falkland to round up the troops they had over there and they (mostly conscripts) were genuinely surprised to see british uniforms

I think I am right in saying the Gurkhas never removed their covers of the blade on their guns in the Falklands War and were very disappointed to say the least.
