Virgo's sending off

Might have a bright side if Leon can kickstart his (goalscoring) season with a genuine forward to play alongside. I'm assuming Leon will get picked now Virgo is suspended, or does the suspension start in a couple of weeks?

Nope, suspensions start for the next match. Virgo misses Burnley (H), Ipswich (A) and Rotherham (H).

Not too clever.

No, the point is, we've lost one of our most influential players for the next three games. The only sour note of the day.

I actually think a Claridge/Knight partnership could work quite well. Get the ball into Claridge's feet, he can hold it up and lay it off for Leon.

My glass is half full. :)

It will be the first time Leon has played with an experienced forward, who has excelled at this level. I'm optimistic that it will work.

This is assuming that McGhee doesn't put Knight in goal and Kuipers and Roberts upfront next week.

If either Kuijpers or Roberts show striking potential during training I wouldn't bet against it, nothing surprises me anymore about our tactics, mind you I am not complaining as we seem to be heading back towards mid-table obscurity.

From what was said on the radio, we might get the red card rescinded. I've heard three people say all he did was to fend off Mullins. It depends on the ref though I suppose.

Cannot see the ref changing his mind

I think Claridge and Knight will be a good partnership. The Virgs Claridge pairing today lacked pace and movement and was unable to exploit the spaces left at the back when West Ham pushed forward. Also I felt that to really benefit from two big guys up front we needed the quality of service usually provided by Currie.
Having said that, I don't want to detract from the performance today. Individually and as a team they were superb. Fought for every ball and worked non-stop for 94 minutes. Well done lads, and thanks for a great afternoon.

Do the Albion actually have a system of club fines? Far too many petulant cards flying around IMHO. Just knocks another hole in an already threadbare squad. A system of club fines would be a nice little money-spinner for the Live'n'Kicking IMHO - or if it wasn't it would mean we'd have more players available more of the time.

Don't think you can really blame Virgs for the red. He should have got a yellow for the tackle but thats it. What happened after was not his fault and he couldn't avoid it.

Should have been yellow, self defence.

The West Ham player thumped him.
