The original cover for Appetite For Destruction was pretty offensive and probably not suitable for on this thread.

1970s budget labels were always good for dodgy sleeves.

An early one from 1970.

WRT some of the other's already mentioned, I don't have a problem with the Houses Of The Holy sleeve. It was artistic and not intended to be anything else. Unlike The Scorpions Virgin Killer, which was a bad idea even for the time. The children on Houses of the Holy weren't related to the band members. It was Stefan Gates (now a TV presenter) and his sister, Samantha. https://dangerousminds.net/comments...kstory_to_the_famous_led_zeppelin_album_cover

Singles had some dodgy sleeves as well. Here's a few:

Have you seen Spinal Tap?

(Or have I just been wooshed?)

Probably my most watched film! I was even born on the same day as Christopher Guest, I’m that much of a fan! Saw that at the Royal Albert Hall in the early 90s, fabulous stuff.

You've got me worried now. It must be of an extremely disturbing nature if you can't even bring yourself to let it's malevolent influence darken the doors of your garden shed but instead have cast it asunder and banished to a safe distance atop your shed's roof.

As an added precaution I might also suggest sprinkling the threshold of your shed with a line of salt. The belt and braces approach is always the best I find.

I keep my vinyl . . . . .in the shed.

But you knew that :lolol:

Been a bit to busy to do the job....tomorrow possibly....

Blind Faith
Must say the album cover looked “wrong” to me even when it came out ...

Absolutely this one, sprang straight to mind. Just wrong.

Another vote for Blind Faith here.

As already mentioned Blind Faith...

Blind faith was the first that sprang to mind when I read the OP, and it still is risqué , or was then, now, everyone just assumes peado. What did people think then?

I was sufficiently intrigued as to how the Blind Faith album cover came about to do a bit of googling.

The girl on the cover was called Mariora Goschen but she wasn't the original choice for the cover, her sister was, and she was selected in what would be judged as very dubious circumstances by today's standards, but seemingly less eyebrow raising at the height of the swinging sixties.

The photographer Bob Seidemann, was on the London tube on his way to Robert Stigwood's office to discuss his concept for the album cover when the tube doors opened and a schoolgirl stepped into the carriage in full school uniform. Her name was Sula Goschen and she was 12 years old.

The carriage was full of passengers but this didn't stop Seidemann from approaching her and asking her if she would like to pose for a record cover for Eric Clapton’s new band.

Sula's immediate response was to ask if she would have to take her clothes off (a perfectly natural assumption for a schoolgirl to make in those days when a total stranger approached asking if she wanted to appear on an album cover). Seidemann replied yes she would, but he would ask her parent’s consent first if she agreed. He gave her his card and asked her to call him which she subsequently did.

An arrangement was made to meet the girl's parents at their home in Mayfair, so presumably money wasn't going to be an incentive. Fortunately for Seidemann the parents were quite bohemian and evidently quite liberated because when Seidemann told them his plans for their 12 year old daughter they readily agreed.

Sula however seemingly had a change of heart and became reticent whereupon her younger, eleven year old sister Mariora asked if she could do it instead, to which everyone agreed. They asked Mariora what her fee would be and typical of a lot of eleven year old girls she asked for a pony. The photoshoot took place and the rest is history.

You will be glad to hear that Mariora doesn't seem to have been left psychologically scarred by her experience and the biggest regret and resentment she seems to harbour is that she never received the pony she was promised, but got paid £40 instead.

https://thetrickis.wordpress.com/2009/03/06/the-story-behind-the-blind-faith-cover/

Mariora is now 61 and works as an esalan massage therapist, a shiatsu practitioner and acupuncturist. It made me wonder if she gets many weirdos paying for her services because they like the idea of getting a massage or prodded with needles from the woman who was the girl on the Blind Faith album cover. Here's the link to her website......

http://natureworks.net/therapists/mariora-goschen

The story doesn't end there however and gets even weirder. A couple of years ago someone decided to launch a change.org petition called "Justice for Mariora Goschen and child pornography victims".

The person who started the petition is so enraged by child pornography and the sexual exploitation of young Mariora that on the petition's web page he has posted a fully uncensored photo of the original Blind Faith album cover showing young Mariora in all her topless glory, presumably for the benefit of those who might not be quite sure what child pornography actually is.

The petition goes on to state that it is now time to take action against Eric Clapton, Ginger Baker, Steve Winwood, Rick Grech, Bob Seidemann, and all the execs at Polydor Records....

It appears that Baker may have chosen to shuffle off this mortal coil just in the nick of time.
