All of the Top of the Pops albums were quite sexist in nature and all of a particular bent featuring scantily clad or hot pant wearing bimbo looking types.

But I like this 1971 "souvenir edition" gatefold sleeve release which plays with our expectations and totally subverts the context of the impression the album cover gives from the front....

Like you I find it hard to be offended by piss takes but the thread was designed for covers that might cause offence to some but not necessarily to me in some of the examples I posted.

I was wondering if you would notice. It certainly was and in particular your Roy Harper "Forbidden Fruit" reference which I wasn't familiar with so I checked out the lyrics which led me to also discover the album sleeve notes which accompanied that track, which probably didn't do him any favours when he was charged with historical sexual abuse charges for which he was acquitted in 2015...

One thing I like about humans (well, Brits, the tribe I know best, cants speak for some of the other weirdos like the yanks) is their capacity to change and become better. This thread is an excellent exemplar of how that operates.

Mrs Tackle and I are big fans and were thrilled to be entertained in Canterbury by Viv Albertine doing her book promo a few months ago. I know some folk saw the same thing in Brighton. As discussed on another thread.

I have a 12 inch EP by Clock DVA from around 40 years ago with an extraordinarily disturbing and inappropriate cover. I can't find any pix online - not surprising.

The only two that I could find that might be considered offensive are "Thirst" and "Buried Dreams". Am I getting warmer?

That cover (minus the loin cloths) reminds me of a holiday I once had, in Mallorca I believe it was, involving a nudist beach which was enclosed by a backdrop of green clay cliffs which provided natural mud packs which we smeared all over our naked bodies from head to toe and let dry in the sun. We then stood against the cliffs combining and blending completely with nature so we appeared almost completely invisible yet completely exposed simultaneously.

Great thread!

The first one to spring to mind was an EP by Dwarves called Drug Store. Although I think that might have always been a bit iffy.

The other one was not a cover but a poster, in The Dead Kennedys Album, Frankenchrist. The artwork was by HR Giger of Alien fame and was called Penis Landscape. I had bought the album and had just gone for a coffee with a girl I liked when I had a look inside and said 'Ooh, there's a free poster'...

You've got me worried now. It must be of an extremely disturbing nature if you can't even bring yourself to let it's malevolent influence darken the doors of your garden shed but instead have cast it asunder and banished to a safe distance atop your shed's roof.

As an added precaution I might also suggest sprinkling the threshold of your shed with a line of salt. The belt and braces approach is always the best I find.
