As already mentioned Blind Faith and Hendrix’s original Electric Lady land. If you have a copy they are with a lot of money in good condition.
I would add the original cover to Guns and Roses Appetite for Destruction, which was quickly changed as shops would not stock the controversial cover showing a robotic rapist.

Not sure that the "Pros and Cons of Hitch Hiking" would be allowed now?

I bought a cassette of this whilst working in Saudi. The cover was censored with black felt pen. Trouble was when the cellophane was removed, all was revealed.:D

I must have bought hundreds when I was over there. Spent many a Friday trawling the souks. Eight Riyals a time or a £1. They're all pirated copies.

But unlike many other covers in this thread (Led Zep. and Blind Faith being good examples of stuff that looked a bit iffy even when they came out, and you only got to see the cover of Electric Ladyland when you had bought it and it was put in a bag for you - it wasn't displayed on the shelves) Al Jolson and the Black and White Minstrels were considered to be perfectly normal and acceptable at the time they were released. Geez! - my auntie's favourite record back then was by an outfit called Charlie Kunz and his Chocolate Covered Coons! Different times!

Always drawn to this in WH Smith’s as a kid.

The Residents: "The Third Reich & Roll’

Originally released in 1976, subsequent later re-releases in 1993 and 2018 had the swastikas censored out.

The album was marketed in Germany in 1980 with all nazi references on the cover edited out.

The cover of Mom's Apple Pie's first album released in 1972 looks quite wholesome until you take a closer look. Later versions were censored...

Electric Ladyland by The Jimi Hendrix Experience would cause a furore today

It did Then! Which is all wrong, for the right reasons!

I wonder what people would think If some one did the same with blokes. That would get censored . . . .so you mix it up . . . And someone else complains . . . . Mixed muddle cock n balls n fanny . . . I'm sure someone identifies differently and can get them selves offended and things oppressed by that too!

Blind faith was the first that sprang to mind when I read the OP, and it still is risqué , or was then, now, everyone just assumes peado. What did people think then? (Few years before I was born) we're a prudish nation compared to our European cousins , quite conservative. ( let's not go there in detail)

I love the tighten up album covers, aimed at teenagers, as we're so many compilation albums at the time. TV was almost soft porn by the mid 70's for comparison. . . Which is probably how/why a chunk of NSC posters were born!

Sorry, went slightly off topic!

I have a CD version with the original artwork.

To be fair, I can't be offended by piss taking like this, whereas all the other stuff you have posted, spot on.

BTW, was this thread in any way prompted by my list of well-dodgy tracks posted on another thread by any chance? ???

I have a 12 inch EP by Clock DVA from around 40 years ago with an extraordinarily disturbing and inappropriate cover. I can't find any pix online - not surprising.

Like you I find it hard to be offended by piss takes but the thread was designed for covers that might cause offence to some but not necessarily to me in some of the examples I posted.

I was wondering if you would notice. It certainly was and in particular your Roy Harper "Forbidden Fruit" reference which I wasn't familiar with so I checked out the lyrics which led me to also discover the album sleeve notes which accompanied that track, which probably didn't do him any favours when he was charged with historical sexual abuse charges for which he was acquitted in 2015...

"Many a man was hung for picking the fruit from the tree, disgusting. I would like to dedicate this to one of my favourite people, Lewis Caroll, who obviously had similar fantasies to my own. Sing it smiling."
