Under Your Skin.
Kuipers - 7.5 - Kicking was shit but some of his saves were bloody brilliant. How did he make that double save?
Calderon - 8 - Looks like a good signing.
Elphick 8 - Solid performance.
Virgo - 8.5 - MOM, some brilliant tackles. Best game in a long time
McNulty 6 - Not as good since he came back.

Bennett - 6 - Not his best game.
Crofts - 7.5 - Worked hard, did well.
Navarro - 8 - Best game he has had for us by a mile, starting to become good, could be the next Guy Butters type story.
Dicker - 6 -Not a Left Mid, keeps cutting in which left Mcnulty in trouble.

Murray - 8 - Worked hard and looked very good.
Forster - 6.5 - First half was one of the worst performences for us IMO. Better in the 2nd half.

Subs

Dickinson - 5 - Meh,
Carole - 6.5 - Couple of good runs & a decent chace.
Cox - 7 - Looked sharpe.

Brighton and Hove Albion: 10

Each player prolly deserved about a 7/8 Apart from Fozzy who had arguably one of his worst games for us. 6.

We were given a treat though. And I would have taken 4/5-1. I just wanted us to score and to give a good performance. I think we did that. No shame in playing how we did and loosing to villa!

Thank f*** somebody else noticed that!
How some people think he was MOM i don't know.

hurst there's no point debating ratings with someone who must have been watching the game from inside a back-to-front balaclava.

i thought dicker had ok 1st half BUT he should play in the middle not ont he left, we had NO width when we was meant to be there, he spent more time in the middle, he should have started there and i think he would have ran the middle of the park, we need a decent left midfielder

Not when most of the opposition attacks came from poor aimless kicks down their central dfenders throats that they were able tocollect and give to their midfield to start another attack, thus putting our defence under constant pressure.

You do post the most absolute tosh and so consistently too. It must take a huge amount of practice. We played the ball out from the back a lot today. If Kuipers kicked, he kicked from back passes and I have yet to see any goalkeeper who can kick perfectly from back passes.

How some people think he was MOM i don't know.

I thaught the same!

He is supposed to be an experianced pro but he looked like a 16yo kid thrown in a the deep end today!!!!!

Saying that I didnt think he had a bad game, just a shocker by his standards!

Also, I dont seem to remember Kuipers' kicking being that bad either, and McNulty also had a shocker!!!

Virgs was my MOM today, when they went 1-0 up I thauhgt he played really well and kept his head with some very important tackles.

good game by all today.

well i aint gonna rate any of them today cos i think they all did bloody well from what i saw at the game and at least gave villa a game and not a huge defeat which probably most thought would be happening. Well done the lads you should be proud of yourselves. get yourselves out on the town and have a good night. looking forward to going to stockport now on tues night. only 20 mins down the road for me.

I only got to this post, and don't need to read the rest of this thread. Absolutely 100% spot bloody on.

Most of his kicks , as you say are from back passes, or from drop kicks, most of which give him the time to kick a ball in the same manner that one of his defenders could, to aim for a team mate, but in his case it is a wild punt upfield with no direction or aim whatsoever.

This in turn allows the opposition defenders the opportunity to give a cushioned header to one of their midfield and for them to then build an attack from there.

Going to do mine before reading anyone elses. Marks probably aren't particularly weighted to take into account premiership opponents!!

Kuipers - 5 - to be honest, I don't remember him making a save, could have done better with third
Calderon - 3 - great, another full back that can't defend.
McNulty - 2 - turd. Can he defend? Once again, nope. at fault for at least 1 (1st), if not 2 goals
Elphick - 7 - scored, didn't look a disgrace
Virgo - 6 - have seen him have worse games!
Crofts - 4 - totally anonymous
Dicker - 2 - woeful. Everything he did was abysmal really.
Navarro - 8 - man of the match without shadow of a doubt. Would have been more impressive if not for early booking.
Bennett - 6 - tried to push on at times, did well
Murray - 7 - ran his arse off, heavily involved, deserved a goal
Forster - 6 - a generous 6 on the grounds that he scored, but his touch was pathetic and he went missing for 89 minutes to be honest.

Dickinson - 6
Carole - 5
Cox - 5

I suppose if you factor in the premiership opposition thing you can wack everyones mark up by 1 or 2, as on the whole as a team, 3-2 was no disgrace, it was just a shame the timing of the goals was so crap, and that they were a result of fairly basic errors.

Kuipers 8 - some nice takes and shot stopping (villa fan mates impressed with him!)
Calderon 7 - Obvious talent still getting match fit, but an asset
McNulty 6 - At fault for the first villa goal but improved as the game progressed and he settled down (much like the rest of the team)
Elphick 7 - Solid + Goal
Virgo 8 - Timely interventions, good all round shift.
Bennett 5 - Not quite at the races today unfortunately
Crofts 5 - Disappointing, not as involved in the nice interplay we saw developing in the centre (note i am a crofts fan in general)
Navarro 8 - Good work, raised his game here, nice interplay with full backs and dicker
Dicker 8 - nice work, as above, add a touch of dicker style class (am very surprised at the people not impressed with him today... i forgive him a couple of lapses, else it would be a 7)
Murray 8 - Great range of touches set up a lot of our chances. Shame he didn't have a clear goalscoring chance, or that he couldn't cushion that one up the holte end (from a hook over by navarro) sufficiently
Forster 7 - Gets 7 for a well taken goal, otherwise a six. Agree he looked his age a little... can forgive this easily against a young villa side founded on sheer bloody pace!

Dickinson 6 - tried hard, made some half chances
Cox 6 - as above
Carole 5 - bit anonymous

in conclusion i thought we played well against different class opposition
very encouraging and we will murder some teams (as we have been) playing like this in our own division
the team started to realise they could play football here and hold their own toe-to-toe in the middle of the park, and in attack we were threatening (if not when stung by a talented villa team on the break) ...

i think this will have done our confidence good, and was EXCELLENT experience for our players - perhaps a little faith in themselves will blossom in the league

they deserve it to

WELL DONE LADS YOU WERE BLOODY TOP FRANKLY
EVEN THE FIVES LOL SRSLY

WHAT ON EARTH were you watching??!! because it certainly WAS NOT todays game!!!

Kuipers made 2 brilliant saves in the second half to keep the scores within touching distance. Virgo put in a top defensive performance. Dicker weaved in and out of the Villa players at times faking left and right fooling them on the spot. Yes the flash backheels were silly but he performed good!! Forster's no spring chicken anymore and did well to keep up with the pace of the game
