Negatives: Only real grouch, which should have been easily avoidable , was having nowhere to shelter from the seriously pissing it down rain other than the club shop when they ridiculously didn't open the doors to concourse until nearly half one. As a result got far wetter than I did at Withdean at any time last season.

You can take shelter round the south side. I did a walk around the ground before i went in and it has some cover there unlike the rest of the stadium.

Ah, right, cheers. Thing is tho, it was so grim weather-wise between half 12 and 1pm tho that the last thing I wanted to do was circumnavigate the stadium looking for shelter. Shouldn't have to really, it's a no-brainer. What will they do for a proper match, have 20,000 people sheltering in the club shop til they deign to open the concourse?

I was led to believe Gus doesn't want a clock on the screens - a certainly not a countdown clock.

Which means, if so, you're going to have to tell the time yourselves.

In that case, as someone else suggested, there should definitely be a clock with the time of day.. doesn't have to be 45 minutes. I can't think of any ground wth big screens I've ever been to where there's not one.

It's quite common.

And the normal clock would do the same thing. The idea is the players play the 90 minutes and don't let up.

True but by the time i got to the Amex i was soaked anyway, so thought more rain wasn't really gonna hurt with a walk around the stadium. I would put today as a 1 off for people getting there so early the stadium wasn't even open.

Well....not that common. I'd say I've been to about 130 grounds all over England and Europe and I can't think of one with a screen that doesn't have some form of clock. Possibly in the lower divisions here but even then I'm struggling to recall one...

Why are people bellyaching about a clock!? Don't any of you have a wristwatch, or a phone?

It makes sense not to have the time displayed to me, less complacancy in the team.

Still got no idea where Dick's Bar is. Apparently it wasn't open today, but you'd think there would be some TRACE of it.

I'm beginning to think it doesn't actually exist, H. It's just a ruse to placate The Ruffians innit. :glare:

On a brighter note, cracking afternoon at our swish new pad & brilliant to see Harty make history by getting his bonce on that cross. I think the teething problems have been extensively covered already, but my only real beef was the library-like 'atmosphere' in the WSU. Very glad I'm in The North if that's a glimpse of the future. Sort it out people!

My review

Club Shop nice a roomy and all the staff very helpful. My sister picked up her ticket she ordered this morning no problem. Lots of shirts being bought (I bought three) and got them numbered no problem. They certianly have cracked how to run the shop. For those who can remember the club shop at the Goldstone this is a million miles from it. Finally the Club have moved into the 21st century and I am poorer for it.

Food kiosks, I appreciate there will be teathing problems but being able to speak a basic level of English would certainly help.

The North Stand only had one shutter open out of four and our server was frankly an embarrassement. He couldn't use the till, couldn't understand the order, didn't realise you had to pull the silver foil off the hot chocolate before adding hot water. My order of pie and pint meal deal and hot chocolate came to three different prices!!! Had to tell him it should cost £8.30.

His supervisor ended up taking the till over. Hopefully with a few more training days for them they will be much better. Would be a good idea to have pints ready pulled (they did have this cracked during half time) Noticed at half time my server was no longer serving. There was a guy at half time selling fosters from a cool bag so when people have clocked on to that they should reduce the queues.

Lots of tv screens which is good and the concourses are large and spacious rather than the type you get a Bournemouth for instance.

When the North Stand is full the stand will be rocking. The atmosphere will be superb and I for one can't wait for the night game against Palarse when there will be a cracking atmosphere. The acoustics will be the making of this stadium.

The walk to the station was great and trains every ten minutes to Brighton will help the flow of people leaving the ground. What people have to remember is that if you went to Villa for the cup tie the nearest station is Whitton and with 40,000 leaving the ground there were only trains every 30 minutes so makes Falmer Station more like Kings Cross. So we are lucky in that respect.

So my first impression of our new catherdral was one to bring a tear to my eye and roll on Donnie.

Thank you Mr Bloom and Mr Knight

Thought the Fat Boy Slim "Right Here, Right Now" remix as the players came out was the dogs bollox.
