some sort of bell, buzzer or announcement in the concourses maybe 5 minutes and 1 minute before the second half kicks off would be nice.

Catering doesn't surprise me sadly. I posted about 2 weeks ago when Azure were really cocking up the training as my mates daughter and the rest of the staff were being given zero guidance. The Dickhead with the flying burger needs to get a bit of perspective!

(sorry, posted this earlier on the wrong thread - doh!)

Catering: Very good - when you could get to it. Happy to pay £6.50 for a pint of Kronenbourg (£3.80 by itself) and a very substantial steak 'n ale pie. Think the beer could be speeded up by having people selling from backpacks in the concourse. General consensus worryingly was that if service is that slow then there's very little incentive to stay on at the end of the game and let the train queues die down.

Trains: faultless. 6 minutes London Road to Falmer, got the 17:05 back. The platforms were well supervised and stewarded and it may pay some people wanting to go to Brighton to go to Lewes and double back on themselves. Would say though the platforms were fairly packed, half the seats in the carriage I was on were empty. Could have easily got another fifty people on there alone.

Ticketing: great access the card readers scan both swipes and paper tickets.

PA: tremendous. Though a great fan of punk, it was a nice change to listen to some fairly safe poppy toe-tappers. Seemed to go with the mood of the day somehow.

Crowd noise: North Stand were very loud with only a scattering of fans. Elsewhere in the ground: oh dear. WSU was sadly reminiscent of the old West Stand at the Goldstone. Utterly silent. Must try harder.

Big screens: couldn't really fault them, came into their own when doing close-ups of messrs Knight, Perry and Bloom.

Little screens: classy and plentiful. Sky Sports News throughout. Nice.

Club shop: Big, oddly seemed to have less of a range of stock than the Queens Road shop. Expect it'll all come onstream soon enough tho.

Football: so-so, as you might expect from the SSC. But that's neither here nor there.

General viewing: Superb

Stewarding: Light touch, friendly

Negatives: Only real grouch, which should have been easily avoidable , was having nowhere to shelter from the seriously pissing it down rain other than the club shop when they ridiculously didn't open the doors to concourse until nearly half one. As a result got far wetter than I did at Withdean at any time last season.

Oh, and a clock is an essential, both for the fans and for the players.

Conclusion: A very promising first run-out for our new home. We'll grow into it!

Also meant to mention the clock, did like the sustiution effect tho. Did anyone else notice any othe use for the screen? Enjoyed the half time scan around the stands. Would be good for interviews, highlights of previous game etc.

Sound does carry

Let's not get hung up on the food it's not that importnant really. Just a bit shocked today. Wish I never mentioned it tbh.

Sussex by the sea could do with cranking up a notch or ten too.

Happy seagull here.

Yeah - need a clock and a little gap in the floor in front of my seat where I can drop my used chewing gum.
The noise will be AWESOME when it's a full house :)

- Screens need a clock.

- Catering was slow, but the chicken and ham pie was lovely.

- Leon Knight isn't a legend, so they need to remove his poster thing from outside.

Overall though, a good experience, a great fairytale scoreline and there is no doubt that the place will rock when full given the atmosphere created by those who were there.

They need more staff if they can't cope with people queuing for burgers! at only 7,000 capacity. I thought my 45 minute wait at Walsall was bad enough and that was between 4,000 of us.

They didn't have all the kiosks open though. At least, not in the North.

I agree. I didn't hear it at all to start and only just caught it to start off the second half.
If Poyet doesn't want a 45 minute counter then a clock showing 'real time' please.

Getting there: Stumbled across the Football Special from Shoreham - bit of a convoluted route and New England Hill is a bad idea. One of the worst bottlenecks in town. On the way back, was one of only three people on it. Brilliant service! No point taking the bus route so straight over the bypass and dropped at my front door - not sure it'll always be that personalised

Getting in: Was v. concerned when saw the long queue in the pouring rain to collect tickets but it moved fast. Top work in the ticket office. Shouldn't be that bad in future when we have smartcards. Could do with a couple more signs on the concourse so people who haven't been before can find their turnstile easily.

Buying a beer/food: Slow - although it wasn't all open. Staff were pulling pints as well as taking money which takes an age. Quality of the food and drink excellent for a football ground. Having a half-time pee and then queuing for a coffee meant I missed the first 10/15 mins of the 2nd half which I think would be seriously unacceptable for a proper match. Little things need tweaking, like staff asking about sugar and getting it for you.... far too slow. Just have it on the side.

Atmosphere: well, not too much obviously but there is a very serious echo around that roof. Not great for the PA but suggests it will be excellent for crowd noise when the place is buzzing.

Big screens: Very smart but really, really need a clock. And, given that all the cameras were in place and being used, the lack of replays after chances seems like a missed opportunity. That's one of the key reasons for having screens, surely? Using them for close-ups of Bloom and Knight was excellent.

Overall: It's going to be bloody brilliant once the teething problems are ironed out.

Not saying the football was dull or anything, but hot topic of conversation in our little corner of the North Stand was the progress of two crisp packets across the pitch

I queued for 40 mins for a pie, only to find they'd ran out of veg ones. I had a steak one instead and the woman looked at me as if she thought I'd decided to give up vegetarianism there and then (I'm not a vegetarian).
