The club will have a plan I'm sure, but I hope they are considering what the back up plan would be if Estupinan is added to our lengthy injury list

Calling Kadioglu's debut "rotten" is pretty unfair. It's evident he hasn't really been healthy since he got here, and even still he's scored two goals and had a few good defensive performances.
You misunderstand. I meant rotten in that he came here injured, got fit, played a few games and then got injured again and will now miss the whole season. It's been a rotten season for him.

Think it was pretty clear from some things Hurz said this summer that Barco doesn't wanna be a backup, which would be the case now as well.
More likely we sign a new LCB who can also play LB than to see Barco back this spring imo.

But would it? Given his versatility (LB, LCM, LW) and our crippling injury list, i'm less sure. At the start of the season, he might have reasoned he'd be behind Ferdi, Igor and maybe Lamptey for a LB slot. I understand his reasoning for wanting a loan, but that doesn't apply now

Our LB plan for the moment seems to my untrained eye to be to play Pervis all game in every game, (with the occasional chuck Adingra or someone in at wing back for half an hour). It doesn't seem like a sustainable plan

We could go and get another player in sure. And the club are great at pulling a rabbit out of a hat, but buying in January is a random unpredictable process and the players we gettend not to contribute much to the first team till the spring

But we already have a player to cover, our highest risk position, and whatever his feelings might or might not have been about being here, we're paying for his Mrs fake tan and fake eyelashes so if we have to override his wishes, the lad will just have to get over it

Ridiculous situation if a kid is demanding to be a guaranteed starter at his age in a club aiming for Europe. This one needs a kick up the arse not a cuddle if true

I'd also say, Barco's big criticism is that he goes wandering and doesn't defend enough.

No different to Pervis this season then, but at least Barco has better delivery.

I've ummed and ahhed on this one but I think I'd have Barco back too.

I just think we need we need to adjust our expectations.

Had he arrived with us, having only played in the South American League and his positional play was peak Ashley Cole level, that would be remarkable wouldn't it?

We ask our young players to learn on the job don't we? Verbruggen has given up a load of goals through cock ups, we rightly accept it, he's young. Baleba has given some dumb penalties away. We rightly accept it. He's young. He's learning.

Why don't we accept it with, Barco? (or Enciso or Ferguson for that matter).

I want to say something else about this wandering, positional play thing, because i've seen it mentioned, by a lot of posters here and it seems to have become a general uncriticisable wisdom. But we're you in the dressing room? Did you see the tactics board? because it could be the positions he was taking up are entirely to do with RDZ's tactical strategy for the game. Now of course it might not be. But the point is that the great majority of NSC's posters, know a hell of a lot less than they think they do about why players are playing where

If he's following RDZ's tactics then we have a real problem!!!

I agree with you though - I've never seen Pervis push forward and then 'tuck in' before this season, it has to be coming from FH.
He's not the only one, I've noticed Hairydiver at Chelsea doing the same thing and Udogie at Spurs. Coaches tend to work from the same manuals and trends, they copy bits and pieces.

Is he versatile or does he have poor positioning on the pitch so people move him around to find something that suits his undeniably delicious top class technique?
I'm sure we are signing a defender. LCB (who can also play LB) or RB (to let Lamptey cover on LB). A defender of some sort is coming, thought so before Igor was injured and sure of it now. I don't think it'll be Barco, he'd be back in England by now in that case imo. But not ruling it out entirely, just struggle to see it.

I had to fight every judgemental urge in my body when I first saw his barnet, tramlines and diamond earing. I'm trying to be a better, more open minded man as I grow old. But brother, my dickhead-o-meter has been going off, big time.

See the incredible wisdom espoused in post #2931

We may well want to sign a defender. But that is different to signing a defender. Last Jan we wanted to sign reinforcements in midfield to keep up our fight on 3 fronts, but the stars didn't align and despite the fact we were gagging for players even more then than we are now, TB did what he will do again. He won't go over the fee or wages limit our data people tell him and he won't settle for some ordinary player to get us through a couple of months.

And someone who can play centre back and full back? To the standard of a top half PL team? They exist, but it's pretty specific. A rare blend of height, pace and skill needed. If only Joel Veltman's grew on trees!

Do we know this to be true?
The injury he had, according to Turkish media, was a capsule tendon tear on his big toe. Surgery generally takes 4-6 months to recover from. So it's highly likely he'll miss most of, if not all of, the remainder of the season.

It was the 1970s denim flares and pleated denim jacket that did it for me.

We still need to manage his development (and it will have to be here if another loan doesn’t happen in the next few weeks). We can’t leave him in limbo for the rest of the season. With Igor now off, if we don’t sign another defender, having Barco back would at least give us some options.

Tough to make a judgement on Barco saying he goes wandering and doesn't defend enough. He's featured for us in just 6 games!

Personally I think he needs another loan where he could play regularly and maybe we could look at that being in the UK at a Championship club?

Surprised that, following Igor and Ferdi's injuries, no-one's asked Fab this at one of his pressers. We've just sold Samuels, so he's not an option now.
