Suggestion now of an 18-month loan with a buy option...

"the latest information says that the loan could be extended to a year and a half, instead of until the end of the season.

In addition, it would have a purchase option that would be between 8 and 10 million euros."

FFS, surely if there is a buy option, it has to be significantly more than we paid for the kid  He looked too good last season for us to let him go without a proper run out with the first team.

Time will tell... or maybe not (still don't have a clue what that Undav deal really looked like).

But if that is really the deal... its difficult to say other than that it looks very odd, almost bizarre.

Rumour has it the club weren’t keen on his hair styling choices …still that’s what Dave told Me

Presumably there will be a loan fee paid as well, and a substantial sell on.

I remember reading comments online that Barco had some attitude problems as well that were hindering his reputation at Sevilla, alongside his poor defending. But take that with a huge pinch of salt as it's pure hearsay and I can't even remember where I heard it, probably Reddit.

But I'd still like to see him come back and be tried at left wing. His deliveries into the box and set pieces were something that we dont currently have in the squad.

Quite, we should be bearing with him for his ball delivery, we genuinely are more at risk of conceding after our set pieces rather than scoring from them. They are generally shit and have been for ages. For a club that is so good at pretty well everything it is so frustrating. I am starting to worry about getting caught on the counter rather than get excited about the set pieces these days :lolol:

Yes there are some rough edges in his game, but nothing that a little coaching and experience won't sort out.

Does anyone imagine that, say Pervis was significantly ahead of him at his age? Certainly not trying to cut it in the PL or La Liga

From what we've been able to see from him he looks to have pace, energy, a decent delivery and he likes a tackle.

The only thing I can think is that his actions behind the scenes have been so shocking the club feel there's no way back for him.

Without wanting to derail this thread, you are right - it is bizarre how we are so useless at dead ball kicks (Barco seemingly the only decent corner or free-kick taker we've had for ages). Given that dead-ball situations are so important (esp corners), how is it that our amazing talent-spotting hasn't unearthed someone who can take a corner!!
When was the last time we had a dead-ball specialist in the squad? Spanish Dave?

Barcos corners in the pre-season were nice but us scoring goals from them (unlike now) had a fair bit to do with playing Japanese mid-table teams.

They were easy on the eyes in the league and the cup tie against Wolves where he made his debut too. Appreciate that they didn't lead to any goals though.

He's definitely good at it but either way I don't think the delivery is the reason we're not scoring set piece goals. IIRC Van Hecke and Dunk together got 50 or 60 headed attempts since they last scored in the PL and in that case it doesn't matter all that much if the delivery guy is good or not.

I think the main problem was that Barco was unable to demonstrate that he was an effective defender.
He could overlap, he could cross a ball and was able to pass, but his defending was somewhat iffy.

Iffy is being kind! Can only assume he hasn’t settled in the UK and / or some other issue to give up so quickly, but from what I saw he was miles off being any kind of ‘defender’
