No they signed him from Troyes, he was on loan at Girona. Troyes are also part of the City Group but have just been relegated to the French third flight, so no conflict of interest as far UEFA are concerned.
Makes sense, Thankyou. Still makes a mockery of multi club ownership. As a Girona fan you know that all your owners care about is City and they’re always top of the ‘group’. Otherwise, why wouldn’t Girona be allowed to buy him instead if he’s been so good there?

It's Troyes you need to feel sorry for.

The player was Savio. He was bought by Troyes (another City Group team) - he was their record signing but never played for them, and spent this season on loan at Girona.
IMHO this is far worse than any Brighton / USG or indeed Man Utd / Nice shenanigans. The whole City edifice feels like a giant organised crime outfit running roughshod over the rules.

If this was any other chairman / club people would be calling this out as a bit iffy

Every summer it seems.

2022 Mazzu to Anderlecht
2023 Geraerts to Schalke
Now 2024 Blessin to St Pauli
Not that surprising given that USG have qualified for the Europa league in all 3 seasons with what I assume is a much more modest budget than some of the big Belgium clubs. It's going to attract lucrative job offers

Don't see it as a big problem.
Yes St Pauli probably asked for, or was offered, TBs expertise to make Hurzeler negotiations smoother, so they signed this successful Union coach who was always quite likely to leave.

Union midfielder Cameron Puertas is chosen as players player of the season in Belgium, could do a job.
Hopefully UEFA's ruling today on City and United will give us some wiggle room and allow us to bring him over.

He'd be an excellent Dewsbury-Hall alternative.

City and United have agreed with UEFA not to transfer players between their co-owned clubs that are in UEFA competition until September 2025, which is exactly the same length we agreed last year and cannot transfer players with USG until September 2024. So in this case they've treated everyone the same and it leaves us zero wiggle room unfortunately to get any USG players over this summer.

UEFA said on Friday that United and City have agreed not to transfer players to or from their sister clubs, Nice and Girona, respectively, until September 2025, meaning Todibo cannot join United. It also rules out any player moves between the clubs in the 2025 summer transfer window.

As with Bloom and USG both City Group and INEOS have agreed to an ownership structure changes for Girona and Nice. However it does look like both parties are only transferring the shares to comply for this season, and will revert back to previous ownership structures next season. I don't think Tony has done the same with USG. I assume that change back will be dependent on European qualification at the end of the 24-25 season.
