oh and by the way - do you have to grade everything out of 10?

It does suggest that you are the font of all knowledge and winds me up slightly and am a bit tired of your pontificating - for instance you grade something or a film even if you havent seen it or been there.

What are you like at home? I have a picture now of you as Alan Partridge marking the cooked breakfast - in future perhaps you could use the sausage as a breakwater between the eggs and the beans - but overall 7 out of 10.

You see what a twat you can look doing this?

Yesterday, I drove the 50-odd miles to my cricket club, though glorious Hampshire and Sussex countryside.

I had a fantastic game of CRICKET [one thing France is shamefully lacking] at one of the most beautiful grounds in the county, followed by a couple of drinks [shandies - driving!] in the beer garden of a country pub [not to be found in France].

Wouldn't swap it for the world.

I was driving through the Sussex countryside the other day and was only thinking how beautiful a county it is. The street I live in has no problems (maybe I am just lucky) I get on with all my neighbours. I have never had any issues with hoodies ever.

When you go on holiday you always also see the best parts of anywhere else. I expect when people from abroad come to England (excluding London) they go to somewhere like Shakespeare country, the Norfolk Broads or the Lake district, you tend not to head for Mosside or Toxteth. I bet when they leave and go back to their own countries they think that England is a desirable place to live. I do also think France is a beautiful country as well, however coming from Sussex I am not disappointed with the way things have turned out.

including great bread shops, great cakes, such items from the french, danish, german are tasty, wholsesome, fresh and cheaper than the shite we have to buy?

Totally. I would not say they are always cheaper though....but certainly better value in terms of what you get for your money.

As a point of order I have never graded a film I have not seen but why let the truth get in the way thats the NSC rule.

Visually England might be okay but when it comes to quality of living, services, cost and attitudes then a lot of mainland Europe wins every time.

Musically we piss over most countries though.

Carrefour £2.50 for a strawberry flan covered and oozing with strawberries, so much the tart was bulging under the weight, Sainsbury's 11 strawberries, not fesh and going at 3.50?

we have a very good bakers at stokey, but you pay the privilage for it £2.20 odd for a loaf, the french and especially the germans will match it for price and thats b4 we get to the "Anchien" shops.

Perhaps the euro has made a difference, though I will defer to your Berlin experience.

But even then, beers in pubs very expensive but excellent beer in supermarkets very cheap!

I think quality of living is the key,

on another thread I pointed out that 5 years ago, whilst we were in Copenhagen, we noticed the locals leaving their babies and children in buggies outside shops! Who would dare to that in this country, even in the local village?

In Stockholm and Copenhagen, women walking freely into parks at night, again, how many men in a city would do so - and of these how many would feel safe?
