I’m in my 20’s, that will seem sad to you because I’m not brainwashed like you think I should be.

What a load of victim hood/race baiting load of shite that is, you can see why the lefties push it so much. Even calls our Prime Minister a racist, got any evidence of that?

How about writing a song with a chorus, oh wait, he probably can’t.

... you seem a bit threatened by a tune. Which part of it upset you? ie which part of it did you consider not true?

One of the biggest rising stars of UK rap is a young white bloke from Manchester, Aitch.

Might as well have a pop at northerners now. Doesnt really mention violence or gangs, so, sorry.

BeHereNow have you never heard the tune Thiago Silva? Sort of has a chorus.

I'm guessing you are around 60 years old give or take ( a guess from other posts over the years ).
I'm curious, what is the attraction of modern UK rap for someone of your age?

The lyrics.
UK rap has been in the background for years, but seems that certain artists have raised its profile over the last few years, because they are rapping about more serious social matters.
Ive mainly listened to reggae and soul over the years, and it has overlapped a bit of late, but mainly because of the content.

As posted already I have looked at the lyrics of some of the artists mentioned in your OP, maybe this one is a bit extreme, but I honestly have not one clue what any of this means.

UK artists are getting a lot more coverage these days but I'm not sure it's due to the content. Acts like Jehst, Braintax, Roots Manuva, Rodney P, Task Force and many more were doing it years ago.

Understand. I dont like all of it, but who likes all the music of any genre. As for me being in my 60s, Pete and Bas are in their 70s, and have a couple of things out there. Thought it was a spoof at first, but its actually genuine. ... and they make me laugh :lolol:

Must admit I don’t really consider rap as music . I feel it is just for people that can talk fast but can’t hold a melody for a song . I also find often although not always rap seems to sound aggressive, with derogatory words about women and various swear words and other offensive words like the N word.

Not for me , I’d never let my kids listen to this sort of noise .

As a beginner, try Jurassic 5

Not yet, but it’s time will come, that’s why we want to nip this in the bud before it kicks off.

As you’re not bothered by the demographic changes, you won’t be interested in this:
https://youtu.be/nNElPMJRZPI

Anyone else notice that most adverts seem to have mixed race couples, mainly a black man and a white woman? It’s almost as if they are telling us that’s how it should be.

Why do we need to "nip it in the bud"? Non-hispanic whites are now a minority in California and they're doing alright. I'd rather have some tacos or a decent Korean meal than a burger anyway.

I know what you mean about adverts, they love a mixed race couple. Companies want to show they are modern and diverse. I don't find it that strange though- just thinking about my old school mates who i'm in a whatsapp group with, over half are in mixed-race relationships.

Some of the American youtube hiphop reactors are pretty funny. Nolifeshaqs reaction to aitch's Straight Rhymez, which put him in the limelight was pretty funny. Some of these reactors are influencing in the US, and their enthusiasm for UK rap cant be disguised, and I think thats helping to spread.

....I just noticed, at the end, he is asking why the video only has 67000 views..now, and I think due to American (Mostly) reactors, its over 19 million.

Yes, what they are calling rap these days, the culture and how they talk.

How I long for the day when I can’t get on a bus and some 14 year old won’t blare out this shite and talk lahk dat fam.

There is a lot of good UK rap out at the moment. You’re just demonstrating your ignorance in music and most things social. Have you cared to talk to these evil beasts?

Try Sampa The Great. New and amazingly good. And Sampa is a SHE!

I was lucky enough to pick up a copy of Akala's book 'Natives' in a charity shop very recently. I knew of him but not too much about him, but from other stuff I've seen & heard since have concluded that he has a talent that is astonishing & an intellect that is mind-blowing. Reading his book was genuinely consciousness changing.

(He has a Sussex history btw; ok a few years growing up in Crawley, but it still sort of counts ;))

I strongly urge everyone to watch the entirety of the top video posted by daveinplzen as I suspect not many will, & also to give the following video a go (apologies, it's slightly longer) to learn a little more about both Akala & hip hop, if you so wish (particularly if you like Shakespeare):
