Have you not read "Miami and the Siege of Chicago" by Norman Mailer? The 1968 party conventions were wild affairs, compared with today's tame politics.

The documentary "Best of Enemies" covering the series of televised debates in 1968 between WIlliam F Buckley and Gore Vidal is very good indeed, and covers these events.

Donald Trump is fostering a twenty-first century Nazi Reich. His violent rhetoric will only inflame more violence. How long will it be before gun battles ensue at these rallies?

Trump should be utterly ashamed of himself!

Trump should be ashamed for expressing his opinions? Victim blaming?

Campaigning for things and protesting are expressions of freedom, protesting against campaigns or protests is authoritarianism. Support for Rubio and Cruz is collapsing because they didn't stick up for trumps first amendment rights, Rubio is about to get slaughtered in his home state of Florida.

Oh yes mate didn't you know?

Anything or anyone now who dares to rub against the liberal lefty grain of belief or anything they disagree with is now blanketly dubbed with the "should be ashamed" descriptive!

Didn't you know that having an opinion that they disagree with and having the ordasity to express that opinion, then you should in turn, "be ashamed"!

Times soon coming when its time to crack lefty skulls.

I have no idea if you're serious, but it's statements like this that are EXACTLY what is wrong.

im no Trump fan but comparisons to to Nazis is just melodramatic. Trump is tapping in to a groundswell of discontent using racism as a matter of convienience, but its without firm philosophy. he doesnt have any conviction, he'll drop pronouncments as soon as it becomes inconvinent, just as he supported Democrat and Republican politicans in the past (donated to Hillary ffs). he is a businessman in the end and will do what ever is necessary to achieve the immediate objectives on a 6-12 month horizon. he will let down many on the right just as Obama has let down many on the left (face it, he hasnt really delivered an awful lot of change). now Cruz, he is really a scary character who really believes his vein of theologically driven hard-right politics, and would steer the US towards an aggressively foreign policy and really upset alot of people in practice (rather than Trump does in words). its probably acedemic as either would be so repulsive to the middle of the road and left leaning american that they vote Hillary, but Trump would be a much, much better option to Cruz.

Surely by having a jacket with 'Secret Service' on the front of it, it doesn't make you very secret?

This. Trump is all mouth and trousers and will happily backtrack on his pledges if elected (does anyone seriously believe that he's going to build a wall on the Mexican border?)

Cruz is a dangerous nutter who really does believe the stuff he comes out with. It's the devil's choice but I'd have Trump any day over Cruz

I'm with you on this. Trump is an opportunist, the Berlusconi of the GOP. He has no views himself, but knows that the disaffected in the US are looking for someone to follow who will be 'strong' and says what they want to hear.

If he gets into power it will be cronyism and little more, he's far less likely to press the button than Cruz.

It was a metaphor, retoric, that sort of thing but thanks Homo.

Move the h to where it belongs, in rhetoric, and it leaves you calling me a washing powder. Weirdo.
