There is that, but if you leave early enough on edit Tuesday you get to sight see around Luton a bit beforehand, so swings and roundabouts.

I received a message from a mate that said ASLEF has announced that strike action by their members will take place on 30 January affecting Southern, Gatwick Express, Thameslink & Great Northern as well as a withdrawal from non-contractual overtime from 29 January to 6 February inclusive. So strike work to rule cal it whatever you want it has real chance affecting CP game.

I would've thought the Police want that anyway but yeah especially if the trains stop working around 5pm which is what they have done previously on limited service. It would be helpful if the clubs can agree on alterations.

Being lazy (sorry), living close to Croydon will Thameslink be running for the Luton game or is it an alternative service London to Luton.
Unlike me to be lazy but I'm sure someone already has the answer, meaning I can watch the end of Aussie Gold Hunters.

Nothing has been decided on the Palace so maybe wait and see about don’t monger doom. On some overtime ban days, a full service has ran, on others not. The Burnley game was an overtime ban, trains ran back to London until 10pm, when the game was last called off for strike reason there were NO trains at all, completely different situation.

but when it has ran previously it stops early so even if game is moved to lunchtime ko, it would help fans get home; you cant seriously think the Police will be happy with thousand of Pal@rce fans stuck in Brighton for the evening?

They won’t be stuck in Brighton unless they decide they are going to stay out all night as the last train on overtime day has been 8-9pm.

I did, thirty years ago but got offered another job at the same time so took that instead! I've since retired, so I can now be flippant about people not wanting to work for 'easy' money

I seem to remember a friend couldnt get a train to Hassocks after Burnley so not sure that is correct.

The last train to London was around 8:40pm, I can tell you this as a FACT. Trains didn’t stop at Hassocks, that problem will be rectified if the same timetable runs again.

Pal who is an instructor for Thameslink told me training takes 18 months+. You have a ‘driver/instructor’ with you for that whole period apparently. They aren’t recruiting anything like enough - they don’t anticipate people leaving, and with such a long lead time to qualification they are always short of drivers.
