There is not a strike on that day FFS.Its hard to imagine the Palace game going ahead 3pm on a Saturday. When wss the last time we played them then? It will be a pain in the backside if there are no trains.
What's stopping "honest" people going for the job now if it's so easy? Why don't you give it a go?Sack 'em all if they don't want to work. They'll have honest people queuing up for their easy money, sit on your arse jobs. The worst thing they have to deal with is hosing the occasional jumper off the front of their carriage
Surely fans go because they wanna g to a game not to collect loyalty points? whatever next fans walking through turnstiles then doing a u-turn?There is that, but if you leave early enough on edit Tuesday you get to sight see around Luton a bit beforehand, so swings and roundabouts.
I received a message from a mate that said ASLEF has announced that strike action by their members will take place on 30 January affecting Southern, Gatwick Express, Thameslink & Great Northern as well as a withdrawal from non-contractual overtime from 29 January to 6 February inclusive. So strike work to rule cal it whatever you want it has real chance affecting CP game. There is not a strike on that day FFS.
I would've thought the Police want that anyway but yeah especially if the trains stop working around 5pm which is what they have done previously on limited service. It would be helpful if the clubs can agree on alterations.seems sensible the Palace game might be moved to 12:30 if trains a problem.
Nothing has been decided on the Palace so maybe wait and see about don’t monger doom. On some overtime ban days, a full service has ran, on others not. The Burnley game was an overtime ban, trains ran back to London until 10pm, when the game was last called off for strike reason there were NO trains at all, completely different situation.Surely fans go because they wanna g to a game not to collect loyalty points? whatever next fans walking through turnstiles then doing a u-turn?

but when it has ran previously it stops early so even if game is moved to lunchtime ko, it would help fans get home; you cant seriously think the Police will be happy with thousand of Pal@rce fans stuck in Brighton for the evening?Nothing has been decided on the Palace so maybe wait and see about don’t monger doom. They won’t be stuck in Brighton unless they decide they are going to stay out all night as the last train on overtime day has been 8-9pm.but when it has ran previously it stops early so even if game is moved to lunchtime ko, it would help fans get home; you cant seriously think the Police will be happy with thousand of Pal@rce fans stuck in Brighton for the evening?
That's the point though, isn't it? Luton, Liverpool, Lincoln, we go for the Albion not the oppositionHow can you put Luton in that list !!
I seem to remember a friend couldnt get a train to Hassocks after Burnley so not sure that is correct.Nothing has been decided on the Palace so maybe wait and see about don’t monger doom. I did, thirty years ago but got offered another job at the same time so took that instead! I've since retired, so I can now be flippant about people not wanting to work for 'easy' moneyWhat's stopping "honest" people going for the job now if it's so easy? Why don't you give it a go?
The last train to London was around 8:40pm, I can tell you this as a FACT. Trains didn’t stop at Hassocks, that problem will be rectified if the same timetable runs again.I seem to remember a friend couldnt get a train to Hassocks after Burnley so not sure that is correct.
Pal who is an instructor for Thameslink told me training takes 18 months+. You have a ‘driver/instructor’ with you for that whole period apparently. They aren’t recruiting anything like enough - they don’t anticipate people leaving, and with such a long lead time to qualification they are always short of drivers.Trainee Train Driver

35-55k it says for a trainee, not bad, can you let us know if Southern are recruiting or is it deadmans shoes?
18 months is your Pal pulling your leg? Good job there are no roundabouts and 3 point turns to be trained on or might take a lifetime to learn how to press a stop/start all button.Pal who is an instructor for Thameslink told me training takes 18 months+.
