I know it's only a stat, but our xG On Target was 3.85. You would never expect a keeper to only make routine saves and still keep that down to 1

I'd take a guess that last time we won a game by one goal there was a good save that would otherwise have given away two points.

This. The only one of our 29 efforts on goal directed to a bottom corner of the goal (not even that close to the post) went comfortably in.
