It's a bizarre situation, but not beyond thinking about. His campaign so far has been an absolute disaster at every step. I'm also thinking now that maybe Starmer held back on the £2k lie to let him hang himself? Risky strategy but it's worked out very well for Labour
Well, that's a good question. Oliver Dowden is deputy PM but Mordaunt often steps up for him when he's not around. Labour won't believe their luck if it's Dowden, he's an even worse performer than Sunak. Mordaunt is a completely different challenge however, she's probably the Tories' most accomplished performer (which isn't saying much)

I have absolute faith in Starmer’s government to “do the right thing” with regards to Ukraine. Zelensky is in safe hands with us. Now, we need Germany to man up even if it hurts their oil and gas interests.

Rishi's ineptitude has you looking back wistfully five years to the days of Theresa May who - at least - exhibited some stiff upper lip in the face of adversity.
I'm still in shock that Rishi left early - 12.12pm according to Sky News. When he looks back on his tenure as PM then surely the dignified solidarity of the 80th Anniversary of D-Day, standing shoulder to shoulder with other world leaders and being privileged to meet the brave veterans one last time as they reach their final years should have been a highlight?
Yet that highlight has now turned into a nightmare. This has been Rishi's own personal D-Day. The game is up.

If I was advised to do something monumentally stupid and insensitive in my regular low paid theatre job; “here mate, grab these live cables a second” I’d tell them to f**k off.
Imagine being the PRIME MINISTER, the supposed leader of the country, and blaming poor advice for something that ANYONE across the political divide with a modicum of common sense can see is completely stupid.
Absolutely f***ing outrageous.

And also, given that the D-Day stuff was set out a long time ago - who scheduled other stuff into his diary 'well in advance'? Surely that merely gives truth to the other allegation that he didn't intend to go over at all.

The reason i reject this thing about the advisers is that the tories are clearly issuing soundings blaming the advisers, to distract from this disaster. If they get traction they will probably sack a couple to try to limit the damage.

But yes it comes down to sunak taking responsibility. At the time of leaving the beach, he surely must have had the thought, that the interview wasn't the priority
