As are so many facts.

The next 5Live phone-in on this scumbag will no doubt have his supporters claiming ‘all MPs were at it’ and my favourite line, ‘he has been kicked out of Parliament for eating a bit of cake’ or indeed ‘Sue Grey stitched him up when she was part of the Labour party’. They’ll never change their view on him. Too stupid and too stubborn.

I’m hopeful that like Trump, we eventually find out that Johnson has broken the law a number of times and that he then gets prosecuted and spends a considerable time in prison recreating that scene from Deliverance where he’ll play the squealer. The Pig.
The question is why such views are given credence instead of ridiculed. He lied every single wednesday in parliament. His whole political platform was built on a fabrication - oven ready, get brexit done. You only have to look at his behaviour in his private life, the misleading parliament verdict is consistent with a pattern of behaviour of an odious narcicist

'Disingenuous', such a Mary Poppins word. He's a lovely person, so disingenuous.

He will then find another constituency, ride back into parliament, and become leader again after Sunak loses the election.
I would LOVE this to happen.

There are enough sensible Tory voters who are so sick of the Johnson clownshow that it would keep them out of power for at least another term. It could even see the break-up of the Tory party as we currently know it, which would be good for politics in general. The ERG/NF*-types can have their own party and the 'one nation' Tories another. It would make the voting choices a lot clearer for people at the very least.

*Nigel Farridge or National Front - YOU decide...

I still find it utterly bizarre that is the one they got fined for, Sunak was early for a meeting and got fined for it!

Given the other stuff that was going on, it makes no sense.

It is bizarre but I've always suspected a slap on the wrist because of what everyone else was up to and how he all allegedly ignored it.

( Didn't help an interior designer was apparently walking around the place )

It was the culture of the building, rather than an individual event. All Johnson really needed to do was hold the line that he isn't responsible for what happens in the number 10. Unfortunately he started spouting (against advice) that the rules were being followed and he had been told so. He wasn't.

Sue Grey talking to Labour saved him, her report was clearly watered down.

I would really like it if the tory leadership makes a statement that they were taken in and deceived by Johnson. That they were eventually sufficiently concerned that they chucked him out as leader. That they will be very careful, going forward, with charismatic leadership hopefuls.

Someone on R5 now commenting that Gove and others sat on their hands, and if it weren't for Javid, who triggered the resignations, Johnson may well still be there.

I do hope the tories can cleanse themselves because we need two effective parties for the health of democracy.

I'm getting some Richard II vibes from the narcissistic wankpuffin.
Richard II?

"Now mark me, how I will undo myself;
I give this heavy weight from off my head
And this unwieldy sceptre from my hand,
The pride of kingly sway from out my heart;
With mine own tears I wash away my balm,
With mine own hands I give away my crown,
With mine own tongue deny my sacred state,
With mine own breath release all duty's rites:
All pomp and majesty I do forswear;
My manors, rents, revenues I forego;
My acts, decrees, and statutes I deny:
God pardon all oaths that are broke to me!
God keep all vows unbroke that swear to thee!
Make me, that nothing have, with nothing grieved,
And thou with all pleased, that hast all achieved!
Long mayst thou live in Richard's seat to sit,
And soon lie Richard in an earthly pit!"

Nah, that doesn't sound like Johnson to me

This morning I told the 5 year old and 2 year old there was no screen time until after breakfast and they were ready for school etc.

I walked in to say breakfast was ready and found the wonderful childrens show Bluey was on via the iPlayer. The 5 year old, without hesitation said her little brother had reached up, grabbed the remote, turned the tv on, found I Player, typed in 'Bluey' and started the episode. When I questioned this she gradually diluted the tale, phasing her involvement in bit by bit. My intense interrogation (asked her why she kept lying) eventually saw the bottom lip begin to tremble.

After a talk, even she understood I was more upset by the fact she continually lied and tried to take me for a fool, rather than the initial act itself.

Yet, this man just couldn't get it.

I couldn't stand him, but if he'd just said up front that they'd had a gathering then I would have been a bit peeved but it would have gone.

But to just keep LYING over and over? taking everyone for idiots? No.

yep, was clumsy and hurried, meant to say without the dignity at the end...The divine right stuff, filling his boots, then the self pitying stuff ... And it doesn't really work anyway because it would probably make Dominic Cummins John of Gaunt.

Edit added filling his boots

The committee twisting the knife they stuck in:

We have concluded above that in deliberately misleading the house Mr Johnson committed a serious contempt. The contempt was all the more serious because it was committed by the prime minister, the most senior member of the government.

There is no precedent for a prime minister having been found to have deliberately misled the house. He misled the house on an issue of the greatest importance to the house and to the public, and did so repeatedly.

Time for a new meltdown thread

After all this, I suspect there aren't any safe Tory seats so it's a bit of a moot point

(leaving aside the blatant hypocrisy, projection and the saltiest of all salty tears)

I guess it's lucky that while they're all engrossed in this, It's just as well nothing else like the cost of living, the failing NHS, soaring interest rates and house prices, the failing immigration system, the failing care system, spiralling food prices, striking doctors, the failing justice system, etc needs any of the cabal's attention .............. Oh :facepalm:
