On a day when three families are mourning the senseless murder of their loved ones, Boris Johnson thinks it’s appropriate to try and make headlines again.

Give it a rest. You egotistical, insensitive, fat f***ing catastrophe.

Go away. Just f*** off.
Good post.

He does seem to be "lingering" a bit, doesn't he ?

Now taken a typical Tory twist as it is alleged that Bernard Jenkins attended a drinks party during lockdown.

:lolol:

.. and Boris has reported him to the head prefect or something.
As said yesterday, a final desperate attempt to delay and save his skin for another 24 hours in the hope something comes up. Knowing his pet journalist friends will help.

Report’s due out at 9am, his road has finally reached it’s end, the can has no further to be kicked.

Johnson resignation has some context now, was going to have a 90 day suspension. was suggested previously would be 10 days.
some of the reasons given are for impugning and abuse towards the committee, his recent conduct doesn't help any defense.

The Privileges Committee concludes Boris Johnson should have been suspended from the House for 90 days.

It says he deliberately misled the House, the Committee, impugned the Committee and was "complicit in the campaign of abuse and attempted intimidation of the Committee."

It adds "We recommend that he should not be entitled to a former Member's pass."

Nice dig at Sunak here:

I knew exactly what events I had attended in Number 10. I knew what I had seen, with my own eyes, and like the current PM, I believed that these events were lawful. I believed that my participation was lawful, and required by my job; and that is indeed the implication of the exhaustive police inquiry.

What an absolute pillock this man is.

He's very careful with his phrasing, so he is repeating "what other people have told him" that it was a kangaroo court and that Harriet Harman (and pretty much everyone else) was politically motivated. Not his words, so he can't get into further trouble for them...

As for "It is for the people of this country to decide who sits in Parliament, not Harriet Harman"; the reality is that it was for the MPs (who were elected by the people of this country) to decide whether to follow through on the recommendations of the committee, but he resigned before that could happen to save embarrassment.

Turns out he's a deeply flawed, lying, narcissistic c***. Who knew?

Apologies for starting a new thread.

My expectation is that because he has resigned he will claim he was never suspended and therefore not punished and therefore not guilty.

He will then find another constituency, ride back into parliament, and become leader again after Sunak loses the election.

I still find it utterly bizarre that is the one they got fined for, Sunak was early for a meeting and got fined for it!

Given the other stuff that was going on, it makes no sense.

there was reference to this when he resigned that, if he did return, he'd have to do the time then. the clock stopped when he resigned not 90 days elapsed from the committee announcing decision.

Once the report is presented in Parliament, for MPs to vote, and the punishment, if needed can still be meted out.

Try this for an analogy. A defendant pleads not guilty, all the way through, but whilst the jury is deliberating, his lawyer tells him, it’s a unanimous verdict coming in, he decides to plead guilty so he won’t get punished?

Either way, he gets punished.

He will find a loophole.

He's done.

The rant in the parrot sketch absolutely applies here.

Hopefully a message will go out to all the other wannabe populist strongmen that they have to obey the law and they have to tell the truth
