I think we will see “priority waiting rooms” in NHS hospitals and suchlike en route to total privatisation. Reserved for those with private health insurance held with insurance companies owned by the Tory’s and their chums.
They would start by making higher income people pay some higher tax surcharge to try and get the public on side. But this is a trogan horse and the beginning of the end for the NHS.

Sunak without doubt is more moderate and less divisive than Johnson, but he is still a Tory and pretty right wing - someone that champions freeport and charter cities to circumnavigate regulation and protections.

Don't be fooled anyone, these guys aren't finished with ripping the guts out of our country. They're incompetence, corruption and self imposed Brexit disaster has wrecked public finances, they're looking for excuses and justifications

Maybe she should take a long hard look - in the mirror.

Fancy having in the team someone who slashes and burns all behind her as she marches forward.

Oh, but hang on, emigrating from Mauritius and Kenya (as her parents did) is a cut above being boated in from the West Indies to do the shit jobs the whites won't, is it not?

Grant Shapps is the consummate political communicator, who is the go-to for the many Conservative administrations we've experienced of late. The line he presents is convincing and carefully selected -- you'll be able to understand this selectivity via these two images:

Tories want to introduce a law to essentially make it illegal to strike.

They know it will get kicked out of the Lords, but that's what they want, another culture war, another wedge issue, got nothing left in the tank

I am no way a Tory! Hateful bastards

however this is bullshit

they are trying to bring in a law that is in place throughout YERP whereby certain vital services must be covered in the case of an emergency, like a bomb going off or prince andrew’s being spotted in the community! Stupid bastards don’t realise that unions do this as a matter of course anyway!

you couldn’t make this crap up

The Tory’s are pulling a fast one but in a slightly different way from what you describe.

Unions and workers already have minimum service policies in place. For example the NHS strikes, cancer and other vital, time sensitive treatments go ahead, ambulance’s prioritise cardiac arrests etc.

Even on train strike days you can get a train if you plan ahead.

The Tory’s are just trying to groom voters by making out they are coming up with this solution themselves.

It’s more Tory bullshit.

I wonder how long the NHS would last if all staff implemented their own "minimum service agreement", ie just work the hours they're paid for

Sounds like the Boris supporters are starting to push to get their man back into number 10. What a time to be alive.
Yes, it almost beggars belief, but I've seen reports in serious newspapers that Johnson's supporters will be plotting to undermine Sunak this year in order to prepare for another Johnson premiership, which they are convinced will win them the 2024 general election by retaining the Red Wall voters (who don't like Sunak's skin-colour and ethnic background).

My fear is that there are enough gullible voters out there (just as there are many working-class voters in the US who still worship Trump) who would indeed vote Tory if Johnson was to return as leader. These voters aren't interested in serious grown-up politicians who will genuinely tackle our economic and social problems - they love Johnson because they think "he's a laugh", a cheeky-chappy they can imagine having a fun-filled evening down the pub with, and because Johnson panders to their prejudices about Muslim women, the Woke, etc.

Tories automatically condemn every strike by workers as 'militant' 'reckless', 'irresponsible', 'Communist-inspired', and 'greedy', and always respond by announcing more anti-strike or anti-union laws, which the Tory press cheer to the rafters.

Yet I have never, in my whole life, heard the Tories condemn bad, bullying or greedy employers, and threaten legislation to compel bosses to treat their work-force with more dignity and respect. In absolutely any industrial dispute, the Tories' default position is to side with the employers - while shedding crocodile tears about the 'suffering' public (who they will forget about the second the strike is over).

Yet millions of ordinary working people in Britain remain totally convinced that the Tories are on their side.
