Rishi Sunak will seek to revive his flagging bid for the premiership on Saturday by wading in to a series of so-called culture war issues, vowing to stop “leftwing agitators” from “bulldozing” British values.

With Liz Truss the firm favourite ahead of a critical few days in the leadership contest, and ballot papers set to be received by Conservative party members from Monday, Sunak will give a speech attacking “woke nonsense”.

Liz Truss has won the backing of former Tory leadership rival Tom Tugendhat.

In a major boost for the foreign secretary’s campaign, Tugendhat wrote in the Times that her plans for vast tax cuts are “founded on true Conservative principles”.

The chairman of the foreign affairs select committee also criticised Rishi Sunak’s fiscal policy, saying it is “not right” that the tax burden should be rising when people are heading into winter with “dread”.

His endorsement is important as he is popular among Conservative party members and a senior figure in the One Nation group of centrist Tory MPs.

I’ve got this horrible sinking feeling that puppet PM Truss will be used to push through some of the most draconian changes this country has seen in a lifetime and no-one will be able to stop her (them) as they have the majority to push anything they like through. I fear we are going to see some nasty “policies” enacted.

She will then be dumped at the first opportunity once her work as party stooge is done!

Call me a cynic, but when I hear that Ben Wallace and Tom Tugendhat waited until a clear front runner emerged before they gave their backing, I can't help thinking they were waiting until it was clear which candidate would likely win the contest and therefore be in a position to offer them a job in the new cabinet.

It started off with multi billionaire Rishi Sunak rolling up his sleeves to do his very best "I'm one of you guys, just look at me" routine, only to find that the Tory membership are a bunch of cretins who don't want to be told their party has wrecked the economy, they want low taxes NOW. They will also take a similarly incompetent woman with no principles happy to promise the earth despite failing to deliver on any of them in her time in government, over someone who "Stabbed our Boris in the BACK"

I hope Truss wins as there is a possibility she is even worse than the fat immoral liar. An incredible achievement. She appeals to every single moron you'll ever meet, and this provides the best opportunity for change in this country if she's still in power in 2022.
