Boris Johnson has been sent a questionnaire by Scotland Yard over alleged parties in Downing Street, in a move that could raise fresh concerns among Tory MPs about his leadership.

Earlier this week, Scotland Yard explained its approach and the role the questionnaire would play.

It said the document “asks for an account and explanation of the recipient’s participation in an event” and “has formal legal status and must be answered truthfully”.

So WHEN Johnson is proven to have lied to the Police, does something FINALLY happen then?!

“Nevertheless, if following an investigation, officers believe it is appropriate because the Covid regulations have been breached without a reasonable excuse, a fixed penalty notice will normally be issued.

If police decide laws have been broken, then they will send the paperwork to the criminal records office, who will formally issue the fixed penalty notice."

I thought the Met were suggesting this investigation was going to cost about £1m. For that I would have expected two detectives to interview each of the 50 or so involved. This new method of Police investigation is going to result in a very dull series of 24 hours in Police Custody!!

Seems it's almost contrived to give the 50 the opportunity to collude to ensure they all give the same story, apart of course from Mr Cummings!!!

The police have over 300 pictures, so they better be careful in what they say.

Bearing in mind it is a legal document

Earlier reports were that Johnson was going to employ a lawyer to answer the questionnaire. So, he'll then blame the lawyer for 'mis-speaking' if his account is disproven. Seem to recall Trump doing something similar.....

Mind you - he has a week now to try and remember all his lies and work out which ones contradict each other!

All he has to do is find a lawyer willing to lie on a legal document...

Ah. So the Met and Johnson have found a way around bringing him in for questioning. Cute but very weak indeed. I guess Johnson couldn’t face the press outside a police station. Another coward move.

Burn them out.

He might be chancellor but he would be shite poker player. His body language and awkward demeanour screamed guilty. His nervous sideways glance to his SPAD literally said 'what do I do, help, get me out of here.' Placed into the hot seat, his limitations will be exposed.

Then there's Liz Truss.....

Early reports coming in that the prime minister has got his pencil case out and started to fill in the questionnaire, Stanley has been seen entering number 10 to help his son with his homework.
Good job that he has a pencil and a rubber because he has already been advised that in the part where it says name, you have to put your real name and not a made up one.
Rub it out and start again Prime Minister.
My guess is he won't even hand it in claiming that the dog ate it.

He knows that once he hands it in the photos will be released proving his answers were another pack of lies.

But he can't help himself.

100 % agree with David Mitchell in The Observer today. The faffing and false starts with getting rid of him are almost as embarrassing as the oaf himself. Can’t even get rid of this absolute clown.

“They’ve all been doing their letters, or thinking about doing their letters, to the 1922 Committee. No one knows quite how many letters there are – maybe they haven’t all been posted. Is it 30? It could be 40! It needs to be 54. David Davis even did the “In the name of God, go” bit in the Commons. Surely that’s the cue? He must be feeling embarrassed now, like he’s failed to get a Mexican wave going. Cromwell used that speech to usher in martial law, Leo Amery’s quoting it got rid of Chamberlain within a couple of days, but Johnson just ignored it and “got on with the job” of slandering the leader of the opposition and singing disco hits to his new director of communications”.
