Possibility: the Gray report party much confirms that he 'misled' parliament, he doesn't agree but acknowledges the verdict and stands down, triggering a leadership election. This heads off any vote of no no confidence, the party rallies round, nobody serious stands against him and he wins the subsequent election, returning triumphantly as Prime Minister.

:wanker:

Unlikely I would imagine. He may well stay for the time being (even winning a leadership election) but he is damaged goods.

There is far more to come out, both about his public and private life and on-going investigation from his time as London Mayor.

His whole demeanour suggests he really doesn't care any more. He's living a life of (for him) minimum wage and maximum grief. Just a temporary blip before people start throwing serious money at him for minimal effort again, as he always took it for granted they would. ****

It no longer works that way.

No one stands against Johnson.

Once the letters go in they have a vote - Back him or Sack him. Simple as that. No other candidates. If he is sacked then the leadership contest starts. Johnson is not allowed to stand in this contest.

If I were Starmer, next time Johnson calls him Captain Hindsight I'd say:

Why are you calling me captain? I'm not a captain. Nor am I a hindsight.

It would be as ludicrous as me calling you General Pillock.

You're not a general.

I mean if he resigns first, before the letters go in. There will be a leadership contest which he can presumably stand in.

More proof of boris lies about the dog rescue.

Why do so many people believe a word he says? He lies more than my 11 year old. He is destroying the office of prime minister.

Whilst people are cheering who support him, this damage could become irreparable. So the people cheering might be cheering now but imagine a leader they don’t like behaving like this, they would rightly be fuming. Imagine if jezza was pm and told lies like this lot. Rightly they would go for him. Sadly, if one person just ignores the ministerial code, then what is to stop the next person doing this too?

I don’t think there’s any chance Johnson resigns, if he was going to he would already have done so. If they want him out they’ll have to take him out. And if they don’t take them out the public may well do it for them.

To which the obvious Labour counter is “better a lawyer than a liar”, if they want to play that game.

Do you seriously think this is a likely scenario?

Didn't matey from Brighton get told off for that sort of behaviour today?

Decorum is what's required.

Well he can't say it under ancient Parliamentary laws but Boris is without doubt a massive liar.

I agree though - decorum is needed at all times. A good example would be carrying on stoically in isolation like your electorate at times of forced isolation rather than gathering for cheese and wine.

Its just like Trump now, the lies are on an industrial scale, sadly its become the new normal. 30 years ago Johnson would have been forced to resign over and over..

But lets face it he felt empowered by the big lie in 2016 and when he pulled it off again in 2019 from that moment on the public were just suckers, anything goes and who cares....
