[Politics] Tory meltdown finally arrived [was: incoming]...

Thunder Bolt

Silly old bat
There two will be ‘first against the wall’ when the new Tory PM announces their first cabinet.

“Dorries and Rees-Mogg call for 'sense of proportion'
Culture Secretary Nadine Dorries has continued her vocal support for the prime minister on Twitter ahead of today's PMQs.

She has tweeted a picture of the Daily Mail's front page - which says the country has "lost all sense of proportion" over parties at No 10 - adding that the paper has it "bang on".

It echoes the sentiments of her fellow cabinet member - and another vocal supporter of the PM - Jacob Rees-Mogg, who also tweeted the front page, adding: "We need a sense of proportion.” BBC

Blaming the public is always a good idea.

Only a couple of minutes til the latest PMQ aka The Beasting Of Boris. Always magnificent Car Crash Telly [emoji38]
Not as dramatic as last week. More like a minor Nibbling today. The Tory benches seemed far more noisy and supportive, and the PM more feisty.

Boris Johnson personally authorised the evacuation of 173 dogs and cats from Afghanistan during an emergency airlift, according to an internal government email.

The communication, which contradicts claims by the prime minister that had had no role in the episode, was sent by 25 August 2021 by a foreign office official – at the height of the Kabul airlift.

In an email to the the department's "special cases" team managing part of the evacuation, the official, whose name is redacted, says that the animal charity Nowaz has "received a lot of publicity".

It adds that "the PM has just authorised their staff and animals to be evacuated".

Mr Johnson had previously said on 7 December last year that it was “complete nonsense” that he had intervened to have the animals evacuated.

Bye bye buddy

Probably not the best time for Boris Johnson to go round belittling lawyers...

Have really enjoyed COLdwar_Steve contributions on twitter of late. Scathing images of Boris and his entourage. Brilliant satire if you haven't seen them.

Cheers - will look it up

Well, this is about as bad as it gets for me. First, your team suffers its 11th defeat in 14 non-league games (2 wins in that run), and then the following morning our magnificent leader is photographed out running wearing your team’s club hat. Ffs.

What should be an important component of democracy - holding the Prime Minister to account - is nothing more than a weekly political farce. In the week when No. 10 became subject of a police enquiry the main takeaway from PMQs was one overweight man fat-shaming another marginally fatter man. This country has become a laughing stock.
