I’m not sure if we have any rules on whether or not PMs should have a single nationality (British) and be born in this country. I do consider anyone born in this country as English or British but I’m not sure if all the candidates were born in this country. Would it be a conflict of interest if a PM had dual nationality? I’d be more concerned with how well they’d do the job to be honest.

To answer your question: if an Indian immigrant came here, got involved enough in politics and was liked enough by their party to become leader and then Prime Minister I'd say that it's an enormous win for Britain being a place where people can really go far.

No rules as far as I can see. If you can command a parliamentary majority you can be Prime Minister, regardless of ethnicity or origin.

me too , you cannot have D/N and be an MP in AUS ....i don't know if its a good thing or a bad thing but i just think if we can't dredge up a British PM then it's a pretty bad situation , Murdoch has absolutely scrambled Western politics over the last 15 yrs and his buddies in the Pharma and Weapons industries are laughing all the way to the bank. 8 trillion dollars taken out of global stock markets and crypto in the last 6 months , oil and drug companies profits through the roof ....we are all being played mate , paying through the nose for less and less by the day.

British Passport holder or citizenship?

Parents who were born in the UK? How many generations?

Certain religions only?

English-sounding names only?
