Foreign secretary Liz Truss will launch a bid to become next Conservative leader by pledging that she will advocate “classic Conservative principles”, the Mail on Sunday reported.

The newspaper said she will reverse the government’s national insurance rise, cut corporation tax and introduce measures to ease the cost- of-living crisis when she announces her campaign as early as Monday

I'd be surprised if he does try and do an overt U-turn on his "resignation".

I would be even more surprised if he hasn't got at least one more dodgy turn up his sleeve. He's certainly not acting like a man who has resigned and is "taking a back seat".

This is not politics. It's psychology. The man is undoubtedly a psychopath. There are likely traits of narcissistic personality disorder and delusion as well. Very likely some trauma. Coupled with an elite upbringing. Even his Eton school reports flagged up he was particularly self-obsessed. And that's a tough crowd to stand out from.

This, coupled with what we know of his past behaviour, makes it very likely, in my opinion that he will try something. Or simply do what he is doing and act like nothing has occurred. He may genuinely be thinking "If I just carry on, people may actually forget I stood down". Of course, this would be his delusional processing coming into play and luckily, reality will disabuse him of that notion.

So, what I think he is going to try to do is front it out and stay on by simply carrying on as before. The public's, the Met's, the cabinet's, the media's and the Standards Committee's reaction to his past behaviour has been to let him carry on.
So there is simply no reason in his mind why this should be any different. But ultimately, there's no plausible scenario where he will be permitted to remain in No.10. Well, none that I can think of.....

The Tories just need to take the whip away from him.

he is, without question, a self delusional, compulsive liar; he could have told himself, literally, anything

Once the final candidates are known, watch the dirt on them emerge. There’s a reason he’s staying close to the big filing cabinet.

…and his Green Card status. His media baron friends will be trashing the prospective leaders and pushing a narrative of “you’re better off with Boris” to the membership.

Johnson needs to realise it's better to be asked why there isn't a statue of you than why there is a statue of you.

The thing is, he didn't use the word "resign", but he DID say he has agreed that a process for selecting a new leader should begin, and that he will step aside once that new leader has been selected. So he HAS resigned in any normal interpretation of the definition of the word. In a normal workplace you wouldn't couch your resignation in such terms ("I've agreed to step aside, boss, but I'll stay until you have chosen my successor" - instead you would say "I resign, but I'll see out my notice if you want me to").

He is obviously a complete dickhead and a lunatic, so he MAY try some Trumpian ruse to stay on, but it wouldn't work. The process is underway, and he will be gone. If he tries to stay, he will simply be ejected via a vote of no confidence.

*There's a small part of me that's still worried though!

Wow guys thanks for your concern about me.....or perhaps just general trolling.:lolol:

Believe it or not, I have not had a chance to get on and post much as I have been a busy boy.

So I have a spare half an hour now, if you want to chat, never ever has the boots run from anyone, so won't be starting any day soon.punk:

The more observant of you may have seen months ago my admission of being wrong, when I put it in my profile location that I was eating pie.........humble.

Why was that, I hear you ask???

Because it was clear that Boris had overcooked it IMO and was ready for de throning.

That said I don't like the way a few went about it, Rishi has cooked his goose as far as I am concerned, one of the main stabbers if you ask me, he didn't take long to have a promo video out.
Lack of respect from me for that, so if he gets the job, I might have to spoil on the next GE.

If Hunt gets in, I will be spoiling too.

This needs a true brexiteer to run the country so you guys can forget 48 voters of against Brexit Starmer getting anywhere near the job, lying through his teeth saying he now will back it.

I don't care what you say but Big Boris with his Big decision making got stuff done.
The Russians found him a handful.....what better trait for leading against the bully boys of Russia.
Getting us out of that tinpot EU was a masterstroke and making the quick decision to get AZ vaccines without all the EU red tape again shows, that he was on it.

Did Boris start any wars? he just led the way and tried to stop them fast.

Starmer would still be thinking and sitting on the fence in all the big decision moments that need decisive action IMO.

How the hell he got away with chucking beers down his neck, shows how corrupt the system is at times.

He will feel used and abused when randy Nandy passes him to lead labour...........just a matter of time as I have said in the past.

I am actually quite surprised that most of you didn't like him he was too liberal for me at times.

For the record, I never had a problem with Boris about his lying as all politicians do it, he had just exceeded his limit.

But thank you big hitter Boris for Brexit and getting those weapons at breakneck speed to Ukraine, it what has been the hardest political time for any PM to have led.

any joy mouldy? if you remember, you were trying to recall what johnson had done that made you realise that he was not fit to govern?

I know you are asking Machiavelli but my answer would be that the most popular policies always win elections and always have done. That’s the whole point of democracy. The Blair Labour Government turned it into a science with focus groups. It has only been turned into an insult in recent times, which is a curious development. The alternative would be something like Putin’s Russia or China where public opinion is disregarded and extremely illiberal policies implemented.

Ish. Actually, it’s always been whoever the press have wanted as PM. Every single time. I guess you could argue that’s sort of the same thing.

And he still has the whole machinery of Government, the Whips, their little black books, at his beck and call. If anyone knows about where the Russian Money went, who picked up the dodgy PPE, Track and Trace and various Covid contracts, who's been fiddling their Tax, Domicile status, Expenses, dodgy sexual preferences etc etc, it is him. All those inexperienced politicians who backed him through Brexit and suddenly found themselves in the Cabinet with absolutely no experience ? There was always going to be a price to pay.

Imagine turbo charged Cummings scorned. Once he's wiped out the contenders, he has to be in with a chance doesn't he ? After all he hasn't actually resigned yet ???

Of course, there's always the chance that one of them has been honest, hasn't been filling their boots, and will rise up, guilt free, legitimate and untainted :lolol:

So Boris has relationship with younger women and tries to get her a job.

Just add it to the list, I've lost count.

She recorded a subsequent encounter and it's quite interesting to finally hear the famous Johnson temper.

That is a logical conclusion, however there is no evidence of a resignation letter.
These things are often published, but I haven't seen any yet.

In his speech he says he has agreed for the party to start the process of appointing a new leader and he will serve auntil that person is appointed.

You know, I realy don't think he has resigned.
I think a deal was struck, that is half way between a resignation and him staying on.

I could be wrong.
But it doesn't look or feel like a resignatiion to me.

Think Boris is relying on the old saying that a verbal contract isn’t worth the paper it’s not written on. If his TV announcement is played back to him he’ll claim it’s fake news by a biased media.

Straight from the Trump playbook!

You heard it here first…….
