Some say Jesus is our lord
But we know its Peter Ward.
But we know its Peter Ward.
God saves
But Wardy nets the rebound.
He could have. Peter Taylor beilieved in him but Clough didn't. never gave him the chance.
Why did Clough buy him off us then?
the wanderbus;2092717 looking forward to singing "He shot he scored it must be Peter Ward" at a game for the first time in 25 years too - you just know he's going to put one away[/QUOTE said:Blinding, after the game I got to meet a real live legend & my girls had their photo taken with him.:yahoo:
The online Argus article has a reader reply from his daughter Louisa saying she's coming to Brighton from Florida just to see him play as she's never seen him play in Brighton.
I too CELEBRATED Wardy's goal like it really meant something... It would have been sad if His only contribution had been to miss the penalties - I know it was only a tap in but in my minds eye He swept the ball into the net with great skill and showed that the old magic hadn't left Him.Nostalgia is a stange thing, you cannot explain it to someone else that isn't feeling the same thing. I tried to explain to my son how it felt to be 15, walking along the Old Shoreham Road with 20+thousand other fans expecting that Peter Ward would stick a couple in the net. It was only when he tapped that goal in yesterday and every one around me jumped up and sang ' He shot , he scored, it must be Peter Ward' that I knew I was amongst other people who felt the same as me.
Ward was a true Albion legend and is by some way the most exciting player to watch that I have seen in the blue and white stripes in my 30 years following the club. How I wish we had a player like that now; the skill on the ball, the body swerves, the ucanny ability to be in the right place at the right time, the way he left players for dead etc. None of our other signings over the years comes close IMHO. If only such rich pickings still existed in the conference!
