As we're talking about stats and facts, here's a question for you:

What's the record for the number of seasons a team has stayed in the PL after being promoted to it for the first time?

The Albion have obviously survived 'second season syndrome' and have done, IMO, very well to stay up. But always in the back of my mind I expect them to go down one year. I just hope it's not for a while!

Don't think City were in it for the first decade or so but, being owned by a petro-state and a questionable predecessor, they've remained there for a couple of decades or so.

Love this tracker, so thought I'd share another worthy comparison of how we have fared after 19 games in each of our previous PL seasons.

What a time to be an Albion fan! :albion2:

Is the yellow line marked 20/21 actually 18/19?

*current - could increase after this season

Of those that haven't been here from the start, Villa had a 24 year stint, but they were in the top division when the Premier League was introduced. As others have pointed out, Newcastle have the longest first stint following promotion (at 16 years). Only Brentford or Brighton can beat that for a first stay at the moment. Man City are on a current run of 20 years, likely to go to 21 years, but this is their third stint in the premier league.

So we drop back to three over the tracker. That to me feels nothing like how this season has actually gone but the tracker cannot lie!!! Two games coming up where we are expected to get nothing.

Yep down to three points ahead, but given our ability to get "bonus" points this season I still feel confident.

A reminder, if needed, that five seasons in the Prem does not make you a fixture. And also, if relegated, how quickly you get "forgotten" by the Premier League collective memory.

I agree with this. It’s quite sobering to think if we go down and stay down for any length of time how swiftly we will be forgotten, especially as we aren’t considered one of the ‘big clubs’ who ‘should’ be in the PL.

I am still loving our time in the top league and would miss it hugely if we did go down.

Just put this together (premier league only).

Frankly amazed that Fulham stayed in the EPL for 13 seasons after getting promoted - and Middlesbrough for 11. Fair play to Wigan - 8 seasons some achievement for a club their size.

I'd completely forgotten that Oldham were a founding member of the Premier League. I'd remembered about Forrest, QPR and Wimbledon, but not Oldham.

Four points above! And no points predicted next game…. Even if we only equal the tracker from now we end up with 44 points. No team down the bottom is getting anywhere near 44 points.

Bottom of the table Burnley have 11 points from 17 games so far - even if we emulate this in our remaining 17 games, we'd still finish with 40 points!
