As for once I haven't got the M6 to contend with. Here you go!

5 (FIVE) over. What a great performance that was. Ali Mac, you are my favourite Argentinian, especially those of a Scottish descent. And Dan Burn, you are my favourite giant.
Interesting that only 18 points expected from second half of season (as against 22 for first half) but partially due to playing home and away against spuds and manure.
But if we over perform by 5 in second half, we finish on 50 (FIFTY) points.

So we’ve managed a league goal at Stamford Bridge. We’ve managed a win at Goodison Park. Time for Potter to shrug off a personal managerial millstone and engineer a win against that Croydon lot.

That is a dirty little result that. +5 now on the tracker. Onwards and upwards.

Petition to change this to the 'Europe Chasing Tracker'?

16 points plus GD above the drop. SIXTEEN.

We've been down this road before, please can we get safe first before we start getting too cocky?

People will be demanding orange on the list of teams we can't catch thread next when it comes round.

Alright alright, it's a bit of a laugh being on a high after a win

Onto the next game!

I reckon there’s a decent chance that we’re safe already.

I like to see at what point in the season we were actually "safe", by which I mean the date that we had achieved one more point than the team in 18th end up with.

Whilst mathematically is often only a few games before the end of the season, often its much earlier that we achieve the magic number as the other teams simply dont get every point available to them.

This season it could be the earliest yet, its even possible (though unlikely) that we will be there by the end of the month, as the bottom teams simply aren't looking like any turn around is immanent, and they need to almost triple their current points tally just to match our current total

Absolutely right, many a season in the Premier League has resulted in some of our fans on here being cocky too early, speculating whether we can finish top 10/12 etc; and then it ends up in us desperately seeking a result after going on a 10+ game streak without a win! Don't think we're near being safe on 27 points FWIW, reckon 33 will be required at least as teams under threat of relegation can tend to find a bit of form in the latter part of the season.

Have we ? When have we ever had 27 points after 19 games ?

Okay I have had a go at this, here you go:

Season/points required/date/matches left
17-18 34 7th April 2018 6 matches left
18-19 35 5th May 2019 1 matches left
19-20 35 4th July 2020 5 matches left
20-21 29 20th March 2021 9 matches left

I have set points required as one point more than the 18th position team.

Are you sure? By 4th March 2018 after we had beaten Arsenal, we had 34 pts which was one more than the final tally for 18th. That was with 9 games to go.

Not only that - which I have checked and agree with 9 games - but last season, we had 29 points after beating Southampton on the 14th March with 10 games to spare.

I make it:

2017/18
18th place had 33 points
We reached 34 on: 3rd March 2018 beating Arsenal.

2018/19
18th place had 34 points
We reached 35 on: 27th April 2019 following a draw with Newcastle

2019/20
18th place had 34 points
We reached 36 on: 4th July 2020 following victory over Norwich.

2020/21
18th place had 28 points
We reached 29 on: 14th March 2021 following victory over Southampton.

But it is late and I am a little tired so may check again in the morning if no one else comes along to correct. Might even check goal difference to see if we were safe earlier in 2018/19 on goal difference...

Thanks guys. I didnt realise 2019 was quite that close!

whatever the actual dates it looks like sometime in March is the earliest, and this season there is a possibility we did it in December (I think a win over Palace will be the actual date)

Its difficult to not get over confident this time round, and I keep telling myself its 40 points-but I dont really believe that.
