Time to face facts - We are not a very good football team

Salad just needs to sort his defence out - then it sounds like we might become a top 10 side. I think we're all disappointed with the start that has been made, but it really is too early to judge.

This is what I find strange. The defence. One minute they are shit hot (well 4 hours and something) not conceeding a goal, then the next minute they are just shit and look like they will conceed during every opposition attack(Stockport, Huddersfield, Southend)

Maybe SAALED just needs to find a settle back 4. Playing with 4 centre backs doesn't work, and is the sort of thing I'd expect of McGhee in his 3rd year managing at a club...

You make a very fair and astute point.

The 3 full backs we have are/were all injured. Wright is now only just back in contention, Whingy may be out for a while and I would get a spacialist loanee in.

Having said that, the main problem on Saturday was the centre of the defence and you cannot easily legislate for the mistakes that were made.

I was a little surprised we didn't try to retain Borrowdale's services. He seems mostly forgotten on here but I thought he was really solid at the end of last season.

Thats very lazy but hardly suprising. Its all you ever get to ANY criticism of the results on the pitch. f*** off and support Manure or f*** off and support Chelsea . I don't think I will if its all the same to you.

I want BHAFC to be a SUCCESSFUL football team. Now 19th in the 3rd division of English football does not constitute that in my book. I find it depressing the total lack of ambition at the club at the moment from the manager, the board and the fans.

Listen to yourselves for a minute. Most people are posting they would be very happy with mid table. Well I am NOT happy with mid table 3rd division. Even Wilkins managed 7th a couple of years ago with a MUCH lower budget than Slade. Also previous managers such as Adams, Coppell, Taylor and McGhee have achieved promotions and success with little budget with the same or more contraints and the same shit ground and training facilities.

RAISE THE BAR a little will you.

Why all of a sudden is everyone wetting themselves at the prospect of mid table as if its a fantastic achievement ?.

Also people need to wake up if they think we will be mid table and then next season the other 23 teams will roll over and let us walk the title. We need a bit more urgency and ambition on the pitch and results wise and to be less happy with shit. Yes 19th is shit.

Some fans I genuinely want BHAFC to be as shit as possible as they wear it around their neck like a badge of honour. " I am a bigger fan than you as I will watch them no matter how shit they " and if you question anything f*** off and support Manure. The " I was at Hereford and I went to Gillingham fans who will relive those past " glories " to the grave.

All fine and well but there are 3000-4000 people who think like that and we need 12000 at Falmer just to break even.

I have supported this club Man and Boy for 36 years and will not stop that I just want some AMBITION and for people to be so less happy with TURD.
You are a CLASSIC example of everything that is bad about the modern football fan. Nothing except constant improvement is any good for you, anything that isn't a step forward is seen as failure and should result in the manager being sacked. DON'T deny it, you said in another post you're impatient and our less-than-perfect start is more than sufficient for you to start bleating about our lack of success, and even more astoundingly the fans 'lack of ambition' - as if you were the only one who wanted us to be successful. That is total bollocks and an insult to all of us. None of us lack ambition and none of us want to support a crap team. The difference between most of us and you is we don't share your childish need for instant gratification and we don't see everything in such black and white terms.

I wouldn't even say 'f*** off and support 'Man U or Chelsea'. Success is relative and you'd soon be moaning about not winning the Champions' League every year and justifying it with the same rubbish you've just spouted there ("I just want the best, what's wrong with that?") The bottom line is football doesn't need 'fans' like you and Brighton certainly doesn't.

but I'd still be going to watch the game, even if I'm not in the ground.

And what if it's not going in the ground but giving the club my money that is causing this?

Climb the tree, but face away from the pitch. Even with the lack of noise at Withdean, you should be fairly aware of each and every one of the seven Albion goals that go in.

If it's the money, dropping the pound coins in a full pint of Harveys before handing them over at the ticket office should do the trick.

Hope this helps.

US talks some bollocks but in the end, he's an Albion fan through and through. This sort of nonsense (along with the "f*** off and support..." rubbish is irritating, because the only choice he really has is to throw himself behind the club or just let himself be indifferent towards it. In the end, what harm is he doing by gobbing off on a message board?

Whing has been off form, no injured

McNulty, we just hope he can back to the levels he was playing at before his injury

Jake Wright seems to be like Virgo and El Abd. A centre back playing as a full back. It can be good, but doesnt quite work. It's just because he is left footed he gets put at full back.

Then we have Steve Cook and I cant think of anyone else...

Well, according to some people on here, the players regularly check this board and our messages leaving them a nervous wreck, curling in a ball and jibbering like an insane witch doctor, and thus they go out every saturday and deliberately lose.

Gobbing off on a messageboard is fine, we've all moaned about the club from time to time. However gobbing off is one thing, starting thread after thread after thread and making post after post after post about how neither the manager, players or fans match his lofty ideals is abusing the 'gobbing' privilige frankly.

It's the aura of negativity he projects that depresses me. Can't someone get him to flounce again?

It's not an aura of negativity, it's an aura of fuckwittageness. Mendoza's QUALITY avatar is tailor-made for Gavin.

Let's not forget the first season with Micky Adams in charge. We won 6-0 at home to Mansfield, 2-1 at Orient, then Gareth came on here saying how he could "honestly see us remaining unbeaten all season". We were 19th by Christmas.

Brighton don't need fans like Uncle S?

I think considering the pretty amazing work he has done for the REMF - something I may add which is one reason many people are proud to be associated with the Albion - it is a bit lazy just to slag him off like that.

Is his negativity really anymore tiresome than the people arguing the flipside, i.e. that we are promotion challengers while all the evidence suggests contrary?

No. Of course not.

Football is all about differing opinions. No need to get personal about it.

Some people will defend the club to the last, others will criticise a tad too soon. I think we all know the reality is somewhere between the two.

US makes some very hard to argue with points. Like our home record at Withdean over the past last 3; something to be collectively ashamed of as a club and given that managers and players come and go, we're the ones who bear the embarrassment. Certainly US doesn't deserve to be treated with that old chesnut "go and support Man Utd" etc - he can't, like majority of us, he's a lifer! Yes he's being a bit negative, but he's being no less annoying starting this thread than those who seemed to want to move on without any questions after our 7-1 thrashing. Equally, I can't understand blind optimism - it makes people look at bit ridiculous if they try and say something like the fans sung well after we experienced our biggest humiliation for 4 decades.

So maybe cut US some slack? If it hurts when we lose, then that's a proper supporter in my book.

Brighton factually.....
Im kinda with Uncle S on this, Lets face it with Novenmbers horror fixtures fast looming and no real sign of improvement on the pitch, It cant all be bad luck !! and "it will even its self out over the season attitude" just does not cut it in my book. I have a real this is steve gritt second season deja vu feeling at the moment.....

I dont want Slade to fail, I dont want anyone to fail.......

Its not wrong to want a little more to show for our efforts so far. And lets be fair our defence is fuckin half asleep at the worst possible times. Thats the managers job to sort, and our job to moan about its what we do.

Passion on the Pitch, Passion on the stands, passion on NSC. None of its wrong its just we aint seeing to much on the pitch yet.

All I want to say is, Slade himself said somthing like we have to wait until the 12th game to see where we are. He said it himself thats when we need to judge him and the team.

I will wait till then to make my judgement.
