It wouldn't make much odds if prices were lower.
That's not what stops people from going. If they went to Cardiff, it was because it was a glory game for good old Albion.

People just seem to think that they're not going to see good football in this division - mugs.

It's both though, isn't it? The value you get for £25 is why people don't go. If the price was lower I think we would get better crowds because people would be more prepared to risk shelling out for a poor game of football.

It depends on all the associated costs and ability to pay, someone mentioned mortgage and other financial commitments, it is a factor but never that simple. For me a trip to Withdean means a return journey of almost 300 miles, when you add the cost of fuel to a match ticket and maybe a bite to eat at the ground there wont be much change from say £70...plus there is the time factor, leaving home at say 11am to guarantee getting to the ground on time (using the park and ride and not abandoning my car in a side street), not getting back till say 8pm...that is pretty much the whole of Saturday gone, I have a busy working week and couldn't justify doing that on a regular basis without cutting other things out.

Maybe the attendance was quite low because we are also playing at home on tuesday and some people just can't afford £50 on football in the same week?

Ticket prices are still the same as last year for individual tickets, but the club are starting to do mini 3 match packages which works out slightly cheaper buying them that way. But your only making about a £1 saving on each ticket so incentive isn't really there for people to rush out and get them. Maybe if they done a 5 match package where fans could save £10 - £20 (£2 - £4 each ticket) might work?

I'm taking 2 non-regulars to the Chelthenham game (ok ones under 16, so getting in for free) but will help push up the attendances by 2 at the very least.

I am slightly worried as to what will happen when the weather turns. We have had a relatively mild October and the team is doing well, but attendances are very low. As already mentioned, this is not isolated to Brighton, but then a lot of clubs do not have such high outgoings and can offer a variety of ticket options to suit the fanbase.

If there's one thing that pisses me off big time with the ticket price it's that poxy travel voucher, I dont need it I travel on the trains for free anyway.

If the tickets were £2 each my 3 sons who go to most away games would not go to Withdean because of Withdean , the facilities. the parking, the atmosphre etc. Unfortunately we have to live with that for a couple more years.

As a STH I would have no problem with them giving reduced admission prices provided they gave me the opportunity to move within the North Stand, where I sit now, to sit with a friend who I could bring along for FREE or at the equivalent rate of the 2 tickets to that being charged i.e £15 each 2 tickets = £30 my season ticket cost me £22 so I would pay £8 for the other one.

I really do not understand why the club cannot offer a season ticket with or without travel so we can chose ourselves whether we want to pay for this.

Surely it is not that hard to do in this day and age.

I am not convinced dropping the prices will bring in the extra 3000 to fill the ground.

There are many reasons people dont go anymore, most of them stated here.

I think its just that we are in teh Third Division and historically gates in teh third division are driven by the opposition. Leeds attracted a full hous because they are the top team in teh division, Notts forest will also attract a decent crowd, but apart from them, who is the draw in this division that people will come out of their houses to watch the team ( and put up with all the ticketting bollocks that is a hassle not a help)?

In the second division, most teams are attractive and will want to be watched by the casual fan, in the third that is not the case.....the trick for this board is to finance the club on historically lower gates and make incentives available to the casual fan that will not piss off the STH's. As an example, where is the incentive for me to buy a ST next year if , as with last year, I have peopll sat around me paying £15 a ticket where I have paid £20. There is none, theerfore buying a ST becomes less attractive, as it will at FALMER!!!

If you were to lower the ticket price to say £15.00 you would need the crowd to be 8334 to recover the same money in as the income would be for a crowd of 5000 based on £25.00 a ticket now, and that wouldn't happen game in, game out.

there are also the add on's such as merchandice/programmes/withdean wager/food etc of which sales would go up with higher attendances

It is part of the planning permission that enables us to play at Withdean, isn't it? I suspect that the club will be getting a letter from the council, as there was a guy counting cars on Saturday.

Aside from the magical season ticket holders, there are also people paying £24+ for a ticket and do not need the travel voucher.

The travel voucher is there because of the restrictions at Withdean, It was added because the club had to try to stop people driving to the game which was part of the agreement to use Withdean.
This may explain another problem that stops people attending matches at Withdean, Taking a longer journey to get there, and long queues for the park and ride at the end of the match, because a result of more attending, the queues for the buses get even longer, and the more likely you are to be put off going again.

season ticket or matchday ticket it cant be that difficult, What about fans who live within walking distance of the ground? it's a piss take making them pay for a travel voucher.

Think the club need to re-visit this as it would reduce the ticket price and may attract more fans.

I don't think you would make up the difference from programmes and merchandise, the Withdean wager only went up by a couple of hundred pounds for the Leeds sell-out, and the money is split between prizes and club.
As for food etc, I think this has been franchised out, so by selling more food, the club would not get more money.

If you cut the price to £15 , and the crowd increased by 1500 on average, you would have to make up £27,500, and the things in your quote would not replace this lost income, let alone mean more revenue for the club

Didn't the club strike a deal with bus and train companies, so probably not much of a saving on each ticket to take off by getting rid of this.
