I agree. At my daughter's school there are clear signs saying "Please wear a face mask". Lots of parents turning up with no masks, not keeping their distance when picking up their kids.

Presumably there is a high level of infection at your daughters school then?

God, reading some of the replies on here is depressing. Seems like maggie was right, there's no such thing as community ( in some people's eyes).

In hindsight I don't think there was any real intention to open up swathes of the country - just dangling a carrot.
Have to say more and more will completely ignore the rules as they don't believe what the Govt says (to be fair what politicians, of all persuasions, generally say)

I wouldn't be surprised if the club don't bother about letting anyone in with only 2000 fans allowed in. Every game will operate at a loss, with the added costs of stewarding etc. regardless of the chaos of who does and doesn't get a place.

There was a case about a month ago in my daughter's year. This child was in the other class, so that class isolated for 14 days.

I know that the Brighton and Hove area has seen a decrease in numbers of late but.....
the case of infections doubled from October 2nd from 1108 to 2289 on 28th October
then up again to yesterday to 3941 (BBC coronavirus page) Admittedly these figures do
include the fact that there are two major university campuses which have distorted the cases.

The area i live has seen increases from 541 (2nd Oct) to 745 (28th Oct) to yesterday 1161.

Considering we have all supposedly been on lockdown for the past three weeks, these increases
are exponential and only marginally decreasing.

not really, and they are covered under furlough currently if they arent open. its mostly people who just seem to object to there being a difference. the inference they'd prefer everyone in full lockdown.

i know a publican, they'd rather stay closed, say its horrible having to semi-open a social environment that no one can be properly social.

I'm no lover of this government, but if they want to allow household mixing at xmas, which I disagree with, then they've got to have harsher restrictions for the rest of the winter. 600 per day are dying. They have to act.

Personally I'm surprised at how much of an effect this lockdown is having at slowing the transmission of the virus. I thought that schools being open, combined with the colder weather, combined with the fatigue, mistrust and cynicism towards this government and it's messages would mean that this lockdown would have little effect. Lockdowns do work and the majority do follow the rules. We know vaccines are on the way, so I support harsh but regionalised lockdowns until such time as we are all vaccinated.

Furlough isn’t the be all and end all.

They are still having to pay NI and Tax

Plus any other over heads

They are still losing money every day they are shut.

Well yes. I meant effective ones that people will follow.

Makes no odds to me, I still go into work, the only member of my close family who is alive lives in China, I’m working Christmas Eve, Day and Boxing Day and I have good friends that I’m bubbled with and see regularly.
Following the so called rules is exceptionally easy for me. So maybe I should be more thoughtful of others who are missing family and work etc.
I think my anger at the ineptitude and ad-hoc nature of this pathetic governments’ attempts at looking like they know what they’re doing has perhaps rendered me a little thoughtless.

Virtually overnight Plymouth Argyle are going to become incredibly well supported.

Ok ok, l know Plymouth is in Devon , but only just.

My home town originally though not seen Argyle play live for some time!

Have been watching them on live stream this season and can recommend them as a very entertaining team.

Can only get 2,000 in on tier 2 though and they’ve got good support so apply now if you’re desperate for a live fix.....!

It's the hope that gets you. Lockdown was due to end and I was looking forward to the my lads U10's football training going ahead (Cancelled as we are in Tier 3 and would have to travel to the astro in another Tier 3 area which I believe we are not allowed to do, it's unclear) and have a beer afterwards which goes without saying won't happen in a Tier 3 area. Quite how where I live has gone from Tier 1 to 3 with a 4 week lockdown in the middle would strongly suggest that they got the restrictions wrong either before or in a weeks time.

Get this vaccine out quick FFS.

Furlough covers up to 70% of wages / £2000 or whatever it is. Plus the employer still has to pay PAYE & NI.

Who do you think is covering business rates, rents, leases on equipment etc?
