Must admit, I only think it's a good idea 3-4 times a season, give 50 or so for active servicemen just come back from duty. Every game and it gets a bit much and we go all American. The help for heroes guys we had at the Dag Red home game weren't interested at all in the game, despite it being a thriller and game we won promotion with. I'd rather they went to proper fans than people sat on their phone all night

Might be seen by some as a fair description of Ted Loden and some of 1 Para though?
Only the sort of tossers who cant see that after spending £ 200 million plus ,there was only going to be one conclusion of the "independent " inquiry, that description fit you by any chance ?

Are you for real, people like you make me feel sick to the stomach. Mods, can we please rename this board the Socialist North Stand Chat Board. Slowly but surely these people are infiltrating our board, that we have enjoyed for many, many years !! :tantrum:

Please explain "these people" and "infiltrating" I was not aware of any political questionair that needed to be completed when i joined the board.

The problem as I see it is where do you draw the line do you give one to Cpl Smith who is on active duty but what about Cpl Brown who is at a training regiment teaching. Would the troops have to prove they are or have been on active service or do you just give it to every person who is in the forces irrespective of their posting or job.

You give a few tickets as a thank you, no need for any complications or drawing the line etc, it really doesnt need to be complicated.

Sorry I misunderstood you as it appears you are saying a few ie perhaps 20 or 50 on a first come first served basis but I thought that you were meaning any serviceman could have a free ticket, so if 400 applied we made them available, out of those set aside for sale to non STH or away supporters.

I'm going to go out on a limb here and why they are any more deserving that say a Fireman? Or someone working with the disabled or mentally ill?

I'll humour you. It's a stupid exercise comparing different public service jobs but the UK has effectively been at war for quite a few years now and soldiers are being sent to fight for our country (I'm avoiding the wider debate) and there is a huge risk they will die in combat. People who work with the mentally ill do not face that threat, firemen do not face that threat to anything like the army do. The proof is in the numbers of firemen who sie in active service. I'm not belittling amy work the fire service due but if you join the army then there is a big risk you will die. Yes, it's the soldier's choice to join the army but this is a small gesture by the rest of the country to say thanks for making that choice.

That's my take on it, anyway.

There are also a vast number of service personnel who still do not see active service and I am sure there are many ex service people on here who never saw active service.

Let's hope the troops get the tickets, and Brighton fans can show there thanks to them, and if you don't like Tough Shit

agree , although don't we as a club (and many other club) already do at least ONCE a season the whole "Help for Heroes" games?

be interesting this season however given how few general sale tickets are avaliable given the demand.
