AMS

Can't find the phone-in thread, so i put it on this one instead.

I've come up with an idea for the ams for next season! Part of it has been pinched from other peoples idea's but here goes:

All current ams members keep there current numbers but those who travel away the most can apply for an ams gold which will cost £20 a year, if someone went to 5+ games a year the following season it would only cost £10, it can only be renewed if you have been to 3 away games the previous season.
Those who have the standard ams would be able to upgrade to a gold the following year if they had done 5+ games.
If a big cup game come round sth's and ams gold would be able to apply first, it would be a free for all on a first come first serve basis (so people would have to get there applications in quick to avoid dissapointment.) Don't agree with the 50% split that currently is as one half woluld be allicated quicker than the other, this would explain why some people got tickets when they put there application in later than someone else was because they were in half thats allication took slightly longer to sell out.
Any remaning tickets would go to standard ams.
I reckon this could start next year aslong as the club announced something soon as would give enough time for people to still collect there 5, but would deffinetly kick in and be sussesful in 2008-09 season

Surely if you had to pay £20 a season to be an AMS Gold member, most 'floating fans' would be put off anyway?

Yes meaning they wouldn't beable to get a ticket for big games, but would still have the standard ams so would be able to go to normal away games, like millwall, brentford etc...

Exactly, so why the need to qualify for it by attending 5 away games?
More money the better?

Why can't we ask the FA for all future cup games to be played at home, and then everyone would be happy. STH would be guaranteed a ticket, and the casual fans would not have a leg to stand on.

The club make no money from away games, also the club would be able to make an extra £10 a year from each fan from what i proposed, the gold scheme would only really come into effect for when we have big cup games away like wet ham and spurs which is only every other year. By keeping the normal ams aswell people that can't afford to go every other week would still be able to get tickets for normal league games as our allication never sells out so never really a problem, so keeping the normal ams aswell doesn't alienate the floating fans

Re: AMS

I understand that, and think it's a good idea, but...

... why to become a gold member would you have to pay £20 AND attend 5+ games? Why not just pay for it? It would encourage more people to, and make more money for the club.

I can see your point but it would mean tht if that scheme was running at the moment someone who might have had to pay £40 since spurs for the membership might have not been to a single game since and thats what i thought most supporters would want to avoid, i did suggest 3 as a number for games to keep gold statues, but it could be 2 or 1. I do think that they should have atleast gone to 1 game a season away. STH would also still get priority aswell and maybe people that have got enough home stubs could be included aswell

I've got nothing wrong with it at all but we get a lot of stuff from STH's who did'nt get a West Ham ticket (And there's a lot like yourself who go home & away who should've) and all they quote is I'm a STH so i'm a superfan. The way I see it is who's the better fan? The non STH who gets to every home game? (Even if it means buying unused season tickets on the cheap) Or a STH who goes to maybe 18 out of 23 games and recoups the money from the other 5 games?

See I think my suggestions means you don't have to differentiate between STH's and regular match goers. When you pay isn't the biggest issue - the club still need the money throughout the year. The biggest issue should be rewarding people who wach the Albion every week.

Fed up with people on the phone in suggesting an AMS member is inferior when I know for a fact that some of them go to more games than some STH's. And in doing so give the club MORE money by paying every week and not getting the discount!
