Never took this draconian measure when I was at school. Lots of girls openly displayed their virginity by wearing faces that resembled a bulldog chewing a wasp. Bloody political correctness gone mad, I tells you.

I blame Thatcher.

You can't wear a chastity ring in school but head scarves and bangles are OK for Sikh or Muslim pupils.

Touch paper lit so here we go..................

Been done before and I not sure I care much but a chastity ring is an American import in which people have a financial interest. It is not a religous symbol.

Good.

I find that saying no is an effective way of not having sex, and more easy to understand than a ring.

I suppose if people want to have sex with her before marriage actually at school and she is a mute or something fair do's, otherwise shut up you daft bint.

So this is actually some USA christian money making business on the back of a simple ring ?

Sigh - how ridiculous, within reason she should be able to wear what she likes at school, if thats what the policy is?...although at our school we had a no jewelry policy simply as people kept getting earrings ripped out at netball...

She must understand though by wearing it she's going to be more of a target from the boys who want a challenge!! or to win a bet!!

Good. Take religion out of education, full stop - the same goes for other garments of other religions. And if you don't like it, pay for the education yourself.
And whilst we're at it, all these church schools can sod off too. The churches themselves often only contribute about 5% of the running costs of the school, yet their boards of governers are allowed to select 80-90% of the pupils themselves. Absolutely disgraceful, IMO.

The whole thing completely pisses me off. Gordon Brown has recently spoken out about separating religion and education. About time too. Good work GB.

As someone who lives in the town concerned, and who knows the School well, I am VERY pleased with the outcome.

This 'Silver Ring Thing' is an American imported idea, and the whole business is being driven by the girl's parents.

The whole family knew very well the School's policy on rings/jewellery etc - as others have said it is not a religious symbol, and if she doesn't want to have sex before marriage, just don't do it!

As a long standing committed Christian I agree with that. It isn't a money making business but it is an American fad.

As we said before, the young lady had a website and a press agent before this came to court, her parents are the distributors for the said "no fucky fucky" ring, and she wants to go into the meeja now she has left school. Sad little hijack, and pathetic attempt to equate her ring with religious accoutrements that are actually detailed in their religious texts. She will now be speaking to "her legal team" before deciding what to do next. I suggest she fucks off on holiday and waits for her O Levels before deciding to do something serious with her life - preferably away from her parents. If she doesn't want a shag, all she has to do is say so!

all pathetic if you ask me. Other hals little girl went to a mosque for a School trip and had to take her shoes off and follow all the religious stuff as anyone would, when it came to a visit to a church, the asian kids parents wouldn't let them go - really pisses me off

Likewise.

We are having issues at the mini starry's school right now with a family of a different religion to that of the school and it's along these lines.
