Just to prove the theory the girls parents were the UK distributors of this chastity ring and therefore backed her to overturn the school decision on banning her wearing it.

Is that correct or have I missed the point entirely - edit now reading the post above.

Correct court decision then.

Correct. See my post, and try following some links on the BBC website. It's all PR for them.

Piss poor marketing if they need to use their daughter as the centre of a sales campaign.

Have you seen one? I'm curious to know what this trademark is.

OK Yorkie, we know where you are trying to take this.

Right - you can only buy this ring from the SRT organisation. Yes, you cannot trademark the biblical reference inside the ring, which I think it what you are getting at. If you lose the ring, you MUST buy a replacement (bargain at £13) from the same people. If you want to take part in this organisation, you have to pay to take part in the course, you have to buy the DVDs, and you cannot simply buy a ring and say you are part of it.

From the website (which you are more than capable of looking at for yourself).

The SRT silver ring is not a “piece of jewellery”. The ring is worn as a symbol and constant reminder of the faith decision and vow pledged to God Almighty. (NOTE - THIS DOES NOT MAKE IT A RELIGIOUS ARTIFACT OR SYMBOL - THIS IS A COMMERCIAL ORGANISATION THAT IS TRYING TO ENSURE THAT THEIR ITEMS ARE SOLD)

Therefore the ring is only available after participating in one of the two programmes:

• A SRT live show (not currently available in the UK )

• The SRT434 programme

A specific design of silver ring, as well as the name "The Silver Ring Thing" which organises courses and drink/drug/sex-free discos, etc. All at a price, of course.

I honestly haven't heard of it. My church in Brighton and the one in Huddersfield weren't tee-total either.

Yes...it isn't something religious. It's just some tacky piece of crap, fundamentalists dont have to be suicide bombers, they can be peddlers of tacky crap to exploit vulnerable teens too.

Seriously I am not trying to take this anywhere. I know of a couple of girls who wore purity rings but they bought dress rings and wore those as reminders to keep themselves for their future husbands. That was quite a few years ago. I hadn't heard of this organisation and their trademark rings.
You know far more about this than me.

No I have never heard of it.

Big links to the US - you can get a ring by attending a live event (only $5 on the door! - and don't forget to bring $15 for your ring!) They are exploiting children over here (they work on a peer-pressure basis in schools, another reason they are banned), both of the girl's parents are involved and this is a media driven event. To be honest, it shows the church in a very manipulative light, not good really. When you start to dig, it just looks uglier and uglier, too many people hanging on to take money off people for what is essentially a cheap ring and a couple of DVDs.

I still fail to understand how the church is linked directly to this and also more importantly which Church ?
