1. There were better songs in the North Stand.

2. Surges. Not for the faint-hearted.

3. You don't get you arse wet. Unless someone pisses in your pocket.

4. Kids standing on crates. And then falling off to such comedy effecct.

5. Easier to 'jump around'.

6. Easier to invade the pitch against Bellotti.

7. Celebrating a goal. You don't get the bruised legs you get with seating when crashing down the terraces.

Any more...?

I have a book at home called 100 years of football in pictures - the reference to Brighton shows a group of guys at the Goldstone standing on the west terrace keeping warm with a huge Alladin paraffin stove one boxing day! Imagine getting one of those into the ground in todays times!

Being able to choose who you want to stand next to.

If someone farts you can move away.

Much warmer standing up shoulder to shoulder than sitting down.

Being able to nip off for a piss without getting in everyone's way.

Wandering around for 20min trying to find the people you were with after said piss.

Hither (sometimes Thither)
I miss seeing the lookalikes i spotted every week. Didn't know truthful names, but just smiled behind the backs of Freddie Mercury and Columbo and The Farmer whose bum smelled and a fella with a mullet, or mule, who threatens to hit us because we found some of his head funny. I also liked the Elmo from Brush Strokes bloke.

i miss the bonfires lit on the peterborough posh terraces to keep us warm :nono:

I miss the freedom of movement. If you were standing next to an annoying twat, you weren't stuck with him all season as is the case now. Apart from that you just can't beat a decent terrace goal celebration. Always made me laugh when old bill would pile in afterwards and pull people out for "pushing". Yeah right. Knobs.

sitting down at half-time

more opportunity for low level deviance

standing just in front of (or just behind) a crush barrier
