i miss the bonfires lit on the peterborough posh terraces to keep us warm

I remember someone starting a rather large bonfire on the away terrace at Fulham when we played them once.

There was loads of paper/other rubbish blowing around and this person gathered some of it together and lit it.

Made for quite a smokey bonfire with plenty of flames as it was a good few minutes before the stewards came to investigate.

There were many Brighton fans around when it was lit, but when it got going everyone moved back exposing the bonfire. I remember plenty of people standing there warming their hands.

Had everyone singing 'Build a Bonfire'.

Reading this thread just reminds me of how much i really do miss the terraces.

I used to stand on one at the front of the north stand, in the early to mid 90s. They used to be a bugger to carry around though. I miss those days.

there was a much better atmosphere on the terraces aswell.

I miss the freedom of movement. If you were standing next to an annoying twat, you weren't stuck with him all season as is the case now. Apart from that you just can't beat a decent terrace goal celebration. Always made me laugh when old bill would pile in afterwards and pull people out for "pushing". Yeah right. Knobs.

in a word... NO

the "product" may at some point become objectively superior but that doesn't mean most wouldn't jump at the chance to wind the clock back... (just for one afternoon even...!)

Yeah I have just checked the Online Football Grounds Guide. Huish Park has terraces behind both goals, one of which is the away end

On those few occasions when I have to sit, I miss EVERYTHING about terraces. But living north of the border, I get to stand on a terrace at the large majority of games I go to. Pretty important being able to jump about and twiddle your toes up here in the winter, as well, I can tell you.

Why do all-seaters have to be all-individual, numbered seaters?

Every baseball stadium here has bleachers -- here in Portland there are are backless team-bench style benches. Your admission buys you entry into the section that has such seats, but folks sort themselves out as needed.

It's halfway between terraces and what it sounds like all-seaters are like over there.

I used to stand on a beer crate on the old East Terrace.

Don't really know why I needed it actually, it's not as though crowds in that part of the ground were generally so large I couldn't see over people's heads, even as a ten year old girl
