Things you miss about football terraces

Why do all-seaters have to be all-individual, numbered seaters?

Every baseball stadium here has bleachers -- here in Portland there are are backless team-bench style benches. Your admission buys you entry into the section that has such seats, but folks sort themselves out as needed.

It's halfway between terraces and what it sounds like all-seaters are like over there.

That's exactly the kind of compromise I'd like to see brought into football. The freedom to go where you want and form the groups you want, with the same safety benefits seating may bring.

the most annoying thing is that terracing is SO easy to control safely

loads of german stadiums have very safe terracing, i just wish the government would budge

I miss not getting quite so drenched when there isn't a roof.

You obviously were not one of the 20 that had to strand behind the goal at Bournemouth for the first half due to some senile old f....r in their ticket office.

But even if they do, all of our stadia will need reconfiguring, which will cost a small fortune.

Apparently you can't just rip out sits and put standing areas in. The stands would all need strengthening owing to the fact that there are walkways behind the stands and the exits would need moving and/or widening to accomodate standing areas. Basically, our stadiums would need reconfiguring.

On the other hand, we've had to wait so long that if the popularist "footer" fan and ex-Eton pupil ever did get in, maybe we could redesign Falmer to allow terracing - and extra 3-4,000 people. :clap2:
