Virgin Records in Queens Road.
Alpine Sports, now the Jubilee market (oh Lord, don't tell me Jubilee Market has gone as well!)
The BMX shop underneath the locksmith's in Queen's Road.
Sphinx Kebab shop, also Queen's road.
The Brighton Speed Trials down on Madeira drive, in the '70s when it was proper dragsters.
HMV in the old Churchill Square, with dozens of Mods sat outside on a Saturday! Bejams!

Until tonight I didn't know the Quadrant had gone, or the Escape.

And of course the "original" Virgin store in Queens Road, where the proprieter was seen having the odd smoke of a sweet smelling substance.

The Hill of The Gun
Clarks bakery in Newtown Road - Wonderful smell of baking bread after a night match at the Goldstone(RIP)
The bowling alley next to Hove Station
The Ship in Lewes Road(I'm sure I'm not the only one who remembers the strippers)
The Variety club in Church Street(A real dump but you could get a drink in the afternoon, when the pubs used to shut at 2.30pm)
The Full Moon(aka The Brain) in Boyces Street - Rough cider on draught -great place to get pissed when money was tight

Black Rock paddling pool.
Peter Pans playground.

God, I spent most of my childhood at those.

I'll add some of the dangerous swing things they had at the rec in Queens Park.

The Alliance in Edward Street was the place for rough cider. 1s4d (just under 7p) a pint when I first came to Brighton.

... and Maxine's Caff in George Street (Brighton).

Steak Pie and Chips 2s4d
Steak Pie and Veg 2s2d
Chicken Pie and Chips 2s2d
Chicken Pie and Veg 2s4d

Best deal for two - buy Chicken Pie & Chips and Steak Pie & Veg, and swap the pies. Save 4d.

Marvellous.

Anyone remember the Pie Shop in Upper St James's Street (near Vogel's Bakery, where old Mr Vogel used to do freshly fried doughnuts, with half a peach stuffed inside)?

And JoJo's cockle shop?
