That's the bloody place....knew the place but memory failed on the name:( I knew the owner's son and I'm sure he said the guys from The Who used to enjoy it there.

That's spooky; I had my first pint in the Golden Cross too, also about 14, but the one on Portland Road in Hove after a warm summer's evening kicking about at Wish Park....

Wow what a trip back.
Not living in brighton any more I think the thing I miss the most is walking back along the prom after a night out.
Leaving the Escape, hot and sweaty and feeling the cool sea air. Bloody brilliant.
I loved my youth and miss it loads.
But when I visit now the place I miss the most is the Quadrant.
I love Brighton and miss it loads.

Where we used to skate (above the arcade) on Madeira Drive (and where they took the main Quadrophenia picture all lined up in front of that 'hangar' thing)

Pub in the road next to West Street - Smugglers? I was in there the night Heysels was on the telly never seen a room full of skinheads go so quiet.

Funny little night club upstairs from one of them as well.

Preston Street when it had good restaurants

The Roller Disco on a Sunday at Top Rank - Centrefold was played every week.

American Dream ice cream parlour - top end of west street on the left as you went up

Leadbellys - burger 'restaurant' on western road that served food on wooden plates (wouldn't get away with that these days) and had dark lighting so you couldn't see what was in them!

you must be older than me?

Cheeky beggar, you're two years older than me :p :lolol:

I preferred that bowling alley at Hove Station to the one at the King Alfred.
Our youth club did a 24 hour bowlathon for charity there. It was dead exciting for me at the time (I was 18) because it was the first time my Dad allowed me to stay out all night.

Sherrys, and The Hungry Years.

Used to go to both of them, ah the memories! A bit outside Brighton but used to go to Cinderella's back in the 70's. Starting to feel old now!

How do even you remember all that?
