Would NSC go volcanic if the next signing isn't a striker ?

( And a striker followed later, obvs )

Although singing a new, average, centre back might just generate enough cash for Bozza to upgrade his central heating.

Can anybody really see us getting the striker we can all actually see we need?

My productivity this week will be so low, keep refreshing NSC every 10 mins, bloody love the transfer window.

I really wouldn't bother refreshing anything if l were you, I think the decision was taken long ago not to do any more business in this window, the permanent signing of Mooy excepted.

These aren't the players you're looking for.

You may be right, but clubs are sniffing around Murray and we dont seem to be doing much to dissuade them. So my guess is we are actively looking to bring in a replacement before he can go.

Surely it gets more and more difficult to do deals later in the window as clubs have less time to find a replacement. Get the feeling that if we were going to do something we'd have done it by now

Accepting relegation at the club. Bad decision to release 2 strikers once the summer window closed, criminal not to bring a replacement in during the winter window

My thinking too, but some here insist it makes complete sense to do a deal later in the window.

The income from being in the PL must be astronomical, so why would we leave deals so late to save a few million? The price of relegation is so much higher. Really don’t get it.

You’re joking, aren’t you? Loads of deals get done on deadline day. Selling clubs, players and agents like waiting until the last minute to try and get as many clubs interested as possible, or at least give the impression that there’s competition for a player, and finally they’ll accept a bid and that sets of a chain of transfers lower down the food chain.

Every transfer deadline day we hear of deals not happening because the selling club cannot get a replacement.

Risky business by the agent if he leaves it too late in the day.

Found some actual breaking news... Soucek apparently turned us down (and Monaco) for West Ham:

https://www.seznamzpravy.cz/clanek/...-sen-west-ham-nabidl-rekord-s-podminkou-87394

Dodge google translate time:

“Slavia football captain Tomas Soucek is very close to engaging in the English Premier League. London club West Ham United eventually offered such conditions that Slavia could not resist.

The clubs were AS Monaco and Brighton & Hove Albion FC. In this game West Ham United performed only marginally at first because he offered Tomáš Souček a guest option, but under not very attractive conditions for the Prague club.

But that changed. According to the slaviabackstage instagram account, which usually serves as an informal communication channel for people at least close to the management of Prague's Slavia, West Ham has offered EUR 4 million for hosting for half a year. And an additional € 16 million to fulfill the mandatory option in the event that West Ham is rescued in an elite competition.”

Shame.

I saw him as a 6ft4” younger version of Stephens with added ability to score plenty of headed goals and provide more assists.

And then this on the other towering DM we’re sniffing over:

“West Ham are also credited with an interest in the youngster. However, as yet, the Hammers have also been rebuffed in their attempts to land the Norwegian.”

Maybe we’ll be back for Berge now?

I expect the club have just not been doing any negotiating for the last 4 weeks and are leaving it till the last minute for shits and giggles.

I doubt it.

I expect we are waiting for another club to sign a striker before we can have one of theirs.

But if it is an agent deliberately slowing things down, they are playing a very dangerous game if they leave it too late.

I genuinely am starting to believe we aren’t looking to do any business.

And if that’s the case we will get exactly what we deserve, I feel sorry for Potter if I’m honest as he has joined a club that we have clearly sold to him as ‘forward thinking’ when in fact what we are is fur coat and no knickers.
