OK take the percentage of the crowd that are adults ? Probably 95%

Is it really safe to take "TODDLERS" and let them stand at the front...??

Football is aimed mainly at adults.... I dont object to kids going as they are the future, but please parents take responsibility..dont blame a few grown men who are celebrating

Sorry, have to disagree. Football is the nation's game, that means inclusivity. Kids need to experience the passion so that they will carry on the game for generations to come.
I think I am a responsible parent and didn't see anything wrong with taking a five day old baby to a game. That baby, and her brother, have been in tiny crowds at Gillingham & huge crowds at away games. I will do my best to protect them, but clubs need to be sensible with their seat allocation policy. Being sensible to me means allowing families & those less able to stand being allowed to sit at the front & the men who have had a beer to stand at the back.

Having said that, whenever the children & I sit at the front & we score we always get trampled on. However ill-mannered my fellow fans might be, it isn't going to stop me going, but it might put others off.

kids should not go to an away game where there is more atmosphere, where he can have his whole life supporting them and going to away games
if they want to go then they need to know its not like being in the family area

Disagree. I have a 13 month old lad who has his brighton kit loud and proud but i wouldnt dream of taking him into a sold out away end, cos i would like to think that is resposible parenting. Very soon he will be ready to sit in the family stand, a safe place, to cheer on the Albion

Sorry, but when I was on the EastTerrace in the 70s with my old man I never remember 5 day old babes being taken to a game, maybe those progressive parents were also taking their new borns to Black Sabbath concerts too?

We are all Brighton here, but frankly a powder keg football match is not the place for a small child, if ypu want ot to be then we wont have pawder

If you take kids you have take responsibility for them and appreciate that if Brighton score in front of you that you need to get them out of the way. Something similar happened at West Ham a few seasons ago but I grabbed my son and got him out of harms way. Other people shouldn't be stopped from enjoying themselves because their parents aren't looking after their children properly.

This problem would be overcome if the stewards did their job and insisted that everybody SAT in the seat they had been allocated or purchased. Why have all seating and not enforce it. Whether you agree with all seating or not doesnt matter and does not change the argument.

so how do you get them out of the way? if its coming from behind you how can you see if a moron is going to go charging about? i had my 7 year old stood on his seat with my arm wrapped around him no problem. but if the people behind decided that they were going to go mental it would not of stopped him or myself possibly getting hurt. all around us celebrated like mad without the need to do anything stupid, perhaps we were placed by decent people who had a fantastic day without the need of not giving a flying f*** about anyone else.

I swear when we play the more popular away games the % of meatheads in the albion crowd seems to grow by about 300%, anyone else get this impression?

As soon as we take more than a thousand or so, especially in London, the idiots come out. Thankfully the vast, vast majority of Albion fans are decent and well-behaved, but there are always a few who are looking for an excuse to be tossers.

Yet another reason why if they have to have allocated seating, you should be able to chose where your seat is.

My wife won't go anymore because she was squashed against the fences at the front on the last day of the season many years ago at Shrewsbury. Shrewsbury for f*** sake. Sometimes these surges just happen and if you're big they're fun and if you're small they can be terrifying

It SHOULD be safe to take kids to football. Why shouldn't it be family day out. Have some respect for other people.. Surely you can "celebrate" without being a complete idiot and not giving a shit about anyone else around you. Why ruin everyone else's day.

Have a laugh but don't ruin it for everyone else, have some respect for fellow brighon fans

Suggest you try the tennis at Wimbledon next....a polite clap and Hooray cmon Andy/Tim/Greg....your toddlers will be safe....Hey they might even have a Creche.....now theres and idea for Falmer...

I feel sorry for her-being a very small female I can imagine how terrifying that would be.
Are those people who say that you shouldn't take small children the same people always moaning that young children support only the big premier league clubs? How are used supposed to get the intrested if you don't take them to games? Withdean with its little atmosphere would not be as much fun for a lot of children as going to a noisy away game (the exception being my godson who doesn't like to much noise!)

Did anyone witness the idiots in the west side of south stand about 4 rows in front of Dick Knight, I would say 4 blokes in their 40/50's and a real prat kid in a purple top, who when asked to sit down so that the wheelchair fans could see, decided to scream abuse at the people behind them who asked then to sit and if you are on here mate, then you are absolute prat and the 'dad' with the earrings. Advice to kid in purple top, you were lucky someone did not punch your lights out for calling women behind you C**ts, you have the IQ of a ant and the old bloke with earrings, I thought only women wore them, you shamed our club today.

He was taken out by a steward and told off, he and the rest should have been ejected.

Now before I get flamed for for wanting to sit down, we did not, but like 99% of us normal fans, we did as our least fortunate fans could see the game.

Rant over

Can someone please explain what happened a bit more clearly, I don't see what the problem is.

If your problem is merely that some people ran dow the aisle when we scored a goal - well that happens all the time and I'd have to question why they were allowed to be walking around unsupervised. Yesterday was always going to be a bit lively, if your kids were in danger or scared then it's YOUR fualt for not looking after them properly

Been mentioned a few times on the other thread. At least our purple friend got smacked in the chops by the ball if nothing else.

I have followed Albion home and away for the best part of thirty years. I have a six year old daughter and want to start takong her to games very soon. Yes of course we should all be able to attend games, with our children and be in a safe atmosphere. But anyone who knows the time of day and not a complete fool, knows that this is not real life. Would I take her to Palace, Millwall, Charlton or any local game for that matter?, no of course not, because I know the time of day and have seen it all before. Im not saying its right, its just the way it is and its not going to change. I will wait for Falmer to take her to her first game. In the family stand, as much as I dont want to be in the family stand, thats where you should be if you take children, otherwise dont complain about swearing, pushing etc etc. Some people who take kids to these big away games then moan about the behavoir of some idiots, should move into the real world. These people will always go, as a parent sometimes you just got to do the sensible thing and sacrifice your own pleasure and stay away. Its not right, its just the way it will always be.

Correct.

I didn't take my oldest son to the Albion until he was about 8 years old, and then, only in the seats in the South Stand at the Goldstone.

He must have been about, 11-12 years old before we finally ventured in the North Stand.
