"Can I check your bag please?"

Where was that taken? Is it the Velodrome?

An Irish husband/wife in different sports have been allowed share, so its obviously just their olympic committee being bastards rather than any "ooh, we must be nice to the gays".

Yep, it's just an Australian policy that rooms will be single sex only, presumably to avoid their athletes being kept awake by the sound of humping. There is no contingency for people of the same sex who happen to be more than good friends- unless they admit to being a couple, how is anyone going to prove otherwise? Apparently this particular Aussie pair are always whining about something in the papers anyway, so few people seem to be surprised. If they're that bothered, they could get a hotel.

Anyone hear the Australian Press Liason guy, on Five Live earlier? He was brilliant.

They got him on to talk about the TORMENT of a bus-load of Aussie athletes having to ENDURE a TWO HOUR coach ride from Heathrow to Stratford, because the driver got a bit lost, expecting him to help ladle on the DOOM.

He said:

"Aaah look...it wasn't ideal after a 23 hour flight, but these things happen. Its no big deal. When the flame gets lit and the Games are underway, a two hour bus ride will be totally insignificant. I've been to 4 Games, and never seen a place like this Olympic Village. Everything looks brilliant, easily the best I've seen. And the transport is no big deal - all Games have these little glitches at the start. they'll sort it, and everything will be great."

Then they cut to the news

Given that we're predicted much warmer weather after the weekend as the jet stream goes back to it's usual position I'm expecting 'Athletes in danger of heat stroke' to appear early next week.

I had a weird dream the other day where man was telling me that the Olympics security sitch was a cover to get the military out in force on the streets because there is a terrorist attack about to go off. He was telling me all this outside the Downs Crematorium if that helps.

Then I woke up and cursed Brunswick...damn his eyes.

I f***ing love this one...............150k tickets given away for free and 500k withdrawn.

London 2012: Organisers cull football tickets in absence of late rush | Sport | The Guardian

Silly fuckers should have made it POTG.

My missus is a PE teacher and she is on 3 freebies to the Olympics. It would appear that schools have already been given tens of thousands of free tickets for bollocky sports like handball and other made up sports...........this is just the tip of the iceberg.

Saw an interview with Jeremy Hunt the other morning and in the build-up to it the presenters referred to the crises being faced ... Their top 4 were

1) being more or less double the original budget ... Fair enough
2) staffing levels at Heathrow ... Not really a Games specific issue
3) G4S - fair enough
4) Beckham's exclusion from the football

This story is all the more qualified to star in this thread, because it's complete bollocks. The perfect DOOM story, in fact.

As one of the comments on the Mail website says:- So how come the photographer has managed to leave out of shot the sign that explains this isn't a problem at all because the bus late will be suspended when the Olympic lane is in operation? Could it possibly have anything to do with the fact that if you had actually told the truth you would be deprived of another totally manufactured chance to trash the Olympics?

I have heard quite a few low flying fighter jets passing over work the last few days, ever since the introduction of the 'no fly zone'.

I think we should be running a sweepstake for the date on which the first Rapier anti-aircraft missile is going to be launched and a plane shot down............. In fact, I don't understand why LOCOG haven't requested that it become an official Olympic Event, alongside the shooting and archery.

Hmm..the winner of that might attract attention from MI5.

Well at least the Olympics are having one beneficial effect............

Manchester United Alex Ferguson facing 'chaos' after 10 stars nominated for Team GB at London 2012 - News - MirrorFootball.co.uk

And with a predicted improvement in the weather next week, all the preparations for additional ponchos will have been wasted. Apparently Cliff Richard is being stood down - he's now been downgraded from 'code red' to 'code amber' and will no longer be stationed at the Stadium but on HMS Ocean instead, from where he can be dropped by parachute to any event where the cloud cover starts to look a little heavy.
