[Albion] The third goal was offside?

The third was clearly offside and there’s been some sort of VAR mix up. TNT covered it well post match.

We were on top at that point if that’s disallowed we almost certainly don’t concede the 4th. Completely changes the tie and surprised people aren’t more outraged to be honest.

Right I got nerdy and I'm not having it.

That white line I followed across the pitch line so it's true to life. I have a VERY hard time understanding how JPVH's heel is closer to the goal than Mancini's armpit.

100% agree. As ridiculous as it sounds: Mancini's armpit was playing him offside.

Not a fan of all this armpit and line drawing, but those are the current rules. I think they drew the line from number 4's shoulder, mistakenly believing he was the goal scorer. It was a blatent cockup and has cost us.

Not just his armpit - most of his upper body.

Still - look at them all unmarked.....

I understand the confusing graphics and lack of transparency causes suspicion but we have to let it go. The VAR has the best view, training and tech, and even still are inevitably going to make the occasional error. It happens. Its part of the game.

It's unlikely to make any difference anyway to a tie we have within our own rights destroyed our chances in. Move on, plenty of football still to play this season.

Sorry to appear thick, but what exactly do you mean?
To my untrained eye, your additional angled lines confirm without doubt that it was miles offside.
What am I missing?
Indeed you are 100% correct.

Haven't you taken the red line from JPVH's calf in the air. Presumably you should be drawing a yellow line down to the ground like you have done with Mancini. Or at least work out where JPVH's foot is likely to be?

I didn't draw the lines. Found it on X. The red line is in line with JPVH ankle as far as I see it and runs across the whole pitch. When tracking Mancinis upper body down to that line it is basically bang on.

Not sure what the blue line in your image is. Certainly not in line with the furthest back part of an Albion player in my opinion.

Who knows :lolol:

Who knows indeed.

The point I was making is that the red line is not in line with JPVH's ankle - which is nearer the ground than his calf. Yes - Mancini's upper body has been 'tracked down' - but JPVH's calf hasn't. If you track down his calf (which will logically be where his ankle is, given the way he is standing) with my yellow lines, you reach the ground where I have drawn my blue line. Hence offside for me!

Looking at every other brighton player's leg in that photo, and the angle they are all standing, I would suggest his ankle is slightly to the right of his calf (though his leg is at less of an angle than the others, there is still lean to it)
