Look at post 28, although you can’t see where the ball is. Lamptey was facing the wrong way and Dunk is anticipating the ball coming in, so why was the Roma player already setting off? His fellow player was well offside, but I’m not counting him.
Lamptey's right leg/foot are playing Dybala onside.

Not the point of the thread. But just look at the gaps in that picture.

Surely this one is down the positioning of Van Hecke, next to the centre circle. We're playing with effectively one centre half and two full backs.

Van Hecke, i'm guessing has been told to be like Stones and go into midfield sometimes, I doubt he would have done that off his own volition. His correct positioning should be 5 yards to the left of Dunk. Exactly where the ball goes.

If you look at the 4th goal, there's a similar story.
That's not on Van Hecke. That's on RDZ, who has told him to go man-to-man, which is what he did.

Nobody can tell me where the ball is and when it was kicked. It’s just a picture.
It's a little bit pointless getting upset about a decision like an offside via a freeze frame. Watch a replay of it, and you won't have any questions: it's clearly onside; if it wasn't, B&HA fans would be banging on about it.

I saw the replays, and called it offside before the linesman raised his flag. My mates will tell you I shouted offside and was pleased the linesman agreed.
i was then gutted when VAR overturned it.
Oh well goodnight.

For that third goal, as soon as the ball went to the Roma player outside the box, I spotted the three players who were unmarked and thought a back post cross here and they’ll score again, which is exactly what happened.
Terrible defending regardless of the offside decision. We seemed to defend that poorly most of the game.

Indeed. We can discuss the offside all night long - but what were we doing leaving them unmarked. Even if he hadn't reached the ball, there was another guy behind him, who would probably also have scored.

This really should be being complained about more than it is. If it were a PL game, fair enough, it probably wouldn't have changed the result either way. But this is a two-legged game. If this apparent VAR error hadn't been made, I don't think we'd be going back to the Amex with a four goal deficit to overturn. It's basically killed the tie.

Exactly, people saying it makes no difference are wrong imho, there’s a big psychological difference between 3 and 4 nil, with the hope of scoring early in the return leg, taking it to extra time with a draw etc.

It was offside.

But it’s irrelevant given we conceded three utterly terrible non-offside ones. That’s more worrying.

Focusing on the third goal is pathetic though.

Disagree, we were on top and looking as threatening as we had all game. If we’d scored rather than Roma getting what looked to me to be an offside goal who knows what might have happened. It was the killer goal, so worth discussing imo

It's a bit more than that though. At 2-0 down we were just beginning to look the stronger team, and could maybe have kept it at that or got back to 2-1. The third goal was such a sucker-punch that the the fourth followed on from it.

I thought if the linesman raised his flag it didn't go to VAR?

Borderline. I would have been angry if we'd scored that and it'd been ruled out.

Defending was appalling for this goal and throughout. They are just not doing the basics at the moment. No idea why.
