No.....Bold Seagull said that enforcing the follow on "so often doesn't work" - he's been proven comfortably wrong above.

Read what he actually wrote. He said EVEN when you still win, it still might not have the full desired affect as they might bat themselves back into some form, on a still-decent pitch.

Yeah I read it. I just don't see that happening - and regardless, they'll be 2-0 down after two tests. It'll be practically all over, with their dressing room in complete disarray, plus they're shit.

There is that.

I need Swann wickets, to boost my BetVictor balance. Australia batting 4th is best for me

100% do not enforce the follow on. The pitch really is not that bad at the moment. Bat for a day and a half, have a 600 run lead then bowl them out on the dust bowl it will inevitably be by that point. Why take the risk that we may have to chase an awkward 150?

Plus can you imagine how demoralising it would be to be bowling in this heat and trailing by north of 250 already?

In tests teams following on have won 3 times out of 299, so 1% of the time. I venture to suggest that the team supposedly "batted out" of the match in that 3rd innings will have a better success rate of winning than 1%.

I'd let Australia humiliate themselves. Let them get another 19 runs making this their highest partnership in the innings, then take the final wicket, then enforce the follow-on.

Actually I doubt the win percentage will be much different, but I think they probably do better in attempting to bat for the draw.

Agreed. Even then, they probably only esacped with a draw, when there has been a lot less time left than this, or perhaps had a little help from the weather?

There are NINE and a HALF sessions left in this game!
